Re: What wine are you enjoying tonight?

    Matchbook Tinto Rey (red blend)
  2. Re: Shindo Montrachet with Snell Type A speakers - impedance

Ideally and in a prefect world, it would nice to keep both the Shindo amp and Quads. Of course that would require both an amp suitable for the Quads and a speaker suitable for the Shindo. Pricey but...

    Re: 1-2k turntable with montille/aurieges?

According to those who have went from Simplex to Amadeus,( Well Tempered Forum at Audio Circle ) you will get better build quality and a 10.5" tonearm of course. Yes, it also sounds better as well...

    Re: 1-2k turntable with montille/aurieges?

With that much wrapped up in Shindo amplification, I'd push the TT budget up to a WT Amadeus. I know a few years ago this table was used quite a bit to demo Shindo, LM, etc. at Pitch Perfect in L.A....
  5. Re: SPEAKERS ON CEMENT. SPIKES OR ISOLATION? Personal experiences wanted

I completely agree with you in regard to spiking source components, amps, etc. Also my experience spiking speakers directly to a suspended wood floor was a sonic disaster as well. Decoupling is more...
  6. Re: SPEAKERS ON CEMENT. SPIKES OR ISOLATION? Personal experiences wanted

I'm in near total agreement with Dizzie on this one. Just about every speaker I've tried in my listening room benefits from being spiked through the carpet to the concrete. The one and only...

Re: Speaker cables for Shindo speakers

Well, I guess I'm no connoisseur, but that does look like his power cord.
  8. Re: Cartridge w/ good Shindo phono stage synergy

I've found that Keith A. ( Auditorium 23) responds to e-mail in a timely manner. I'd say between him and Jonathan, ( Tone) you'd probably get a good assessment on the cartridge/ T2 compatibility...
  9. Re: Cartridge w/ good Shindo phono stage synergy

On more of the "budget" side, excellent results here with a Zu/Denon 103/ Auditorium 23 SUT/ Aurieges MM. Turntable is a WTL Amadeus.

    Re: Spade to Banana Connectors

FWIW, I found those AQ's to be awkward and honestly, total junk. I would definitely move on to one of the designs already suggested. Those BFA's look great. Good luck.
  11. Re: Is it possible to wire Conrad Johnson amps in Triode mode? ....

Same could be said of both of my Bob Latino amps. Easily switchable to triode mode with toggles on the top deck. I could experiment endlessly. Eventually just left them in ultralinear. Far more...

    Re: preamps under $1000

I have 2 Grant Fidelity TubeDac 11's. One for casual listening in my family room where it's used for CD playback or Pandora 1. A second in my main system which was modded by Wayne at Bolder just...

Re: How do you dust your gear?

Feather duster or Swiffer on "box" components. Turntable...soft bristle shaving brush. Vacuum tube components where tubes are exposed...1"-1.5" wide soft bristle paint brush.

Re: Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

Some may disagree, but I feel 10% is fair. Weeds out the window shoppers.

Re: Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

I can somewhat see what might prompt a "restock" charge, but it has nothing to do with actual restocking. If the manufacturer sends a speaker out for audition and it's returned within the trail...

Re: Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

Thx for the very informative reply. I was only able to speak with Charles.( the tech support guy ) Despite the 4 nominal statement, the speakers never drop below 4 ohms according to him. And yes, I...

Re: Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

I'll investigate the restocking fee this week when Clayton returns. If it's something like 15%, that would be rather brutal combined with two or three hundred bucks in shipping charges coming and...

Re: Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

I think I could live with either, but didn't spend nearly as much time listening to the Emeralds. The Emeralds that were being played came in at a much higher price point I believe. Not sure they...

Re: Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

I heard the Spatials at RMAF and they were truly one of the best bangs for the $ there. Shamed many of the grossly overpriced big box designs. 100 db efficient, tube friendly, room friendly, wallet...

    Re: Psvane Replica WE845 tubes

Doug....what other drivers have you tried in the 218IA? I'm currently using NOS Marconi 6V6's for the first time. Also have some NOS Sylvania's of the same ilk. In the process of comparing these to...

    Re: Anyone Into Coffee?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the AeroPress ( unless I missed it ). Similar in principal to a French press, but uses paper filters. I've had very good results from this inexpensive little...

    Re: Psvane Replica WE845 tubes

Doug.....thanks for the quick overview of the Psvane 845 WE. A couple months ago I replaced the originally supplied 845's in my LM 218IA. I almost pulled the trigger on the WE's, but turned...

Thx Brian. I am heading to RMAF, so I will get a chance to hear them there.
