Re: What's on your wrist today

The short answer is no. Quartz watches are accurate and precise. And cheap. Whether it's a $20 or $2000 electronic watch it's going to keep time about the same, and likely much more accurately...

Re: Any fountain pen users here?

Like audio and other hobbies, I go in/out of interest in dealing with the hassle and pleasure of a fountain pen. I have several, but as I started flying more and concerned with leaks, I migrated to...

Re: Kuzma 4 Point Cartridge Compatibility?

    Thanks.

    Some additional info:
The turntable is a Technics SP10R in an Acoustistand Delrinium plinth (unsuspended) with 3 arm boards. I’m pretty sure my Sound Smith Hyperion (9 CU) and London...

    Kuzma 4 Point Cartridge Compatibility?

I’m considering a Kuzma 4 point 14” tonearm. I’ve read the rave reviews. What I want to know is what cartridges do not play well with the high-ish mass of the Kuzma?

    Re: Your first

Hmmm many trips in the 70s to HiFi Buys in Muncie, IN while my mom was grocery shopping, looking at gear I could only dream of owning—SME, Carver, JBL, Crown. Trips to Service Mechandise and many...

    Re: Soundstage - Depth?

My thoughts as well. In my experience soundstage depth and width beyond the speakers require diffusion of primary reflections. Pull your speakers out when critically listening and get diffusers...

Re: Chops' Current System Pics ....

I had a Blue Point Special on a Systemdek many years ago. I’m interested in your comparison as well. I’ve heard very good things about the Ortofon Bronze (and black, et al), but I’ve not heard one.

Re: Florida Audio Expo Show Report

Maybe they weren't there after all. I heard from Sound Lab that there would be a display by a dealer, and they are listed as an exhibitor, but the total lack of mention anywhere makes me wonder if...

Re: Florida Audio Expo Show Report

Sound Lab speakers was supposedly at the show, yet I haven't seen any coverage. Did they not show? Was the sound that unremarkable?

Re: What's on your wrist today

Understand the joke. And I love Blancpain, especially their dive watches. I also appreciate date numerals that I can see with my aging eyes. My Rolex "magnifier" doesn't cut it any more.

Re: What's on your wrist today

Possibly but the date numerals are actually big enough to read. What a concept!

Re: What's on your wrist today

One of the nice things about the Rolex GMT bracelet--it can be relieved about 1/2 link while wearing when flying (or during a pandemic) to relieve pressure.

Re: What's on your wrist today

Love GMTs as in the "before times" I traveled internationally a lot. Not much need for multi-time zones now, but I still love this watch.

    Eric,
I agree with others. I really enjoyed your documentation of the process. I'm having trouble finding much info on the last Block Audio preamp you tried, however. All the reviews I found are...

    Re: Holo May KTE DAC

Wow 50 hours is nothing on that DAC. The first 100 hours are all over the place (and much of the time not a good place). You should really figure out a way to run it 24/7 (ok possibly powering...

    Step up from S10?

I purchased an Aurender S10 used about 6 years ago and it's been great. I think it was about 5 years old when I bought it, so I'm anticipating the day I go to listen and it's dead. I only use it as...

    Re: 2-Channel Subwoofer Integration

    Jim,
That is spot on with my experience (both feuds and subs). I started with two subs for better bass, but what I discovered especially after adding a third (dual) is the sense of space, of venue....

    Re: 2-Channel Subwoofer Integration

Yep. At low frequencies it's less about the speaker(s) and much more about the room. Multiple subs allow some room smoothing of the lowest octaves to reduce the worst of the nulls and peaks created...
