    Re: Sound volume level

Another one here. I listen on shuffle and have to adjust the volume often; there are sometimes huge differences from one song to the next. That's why a remote is essential for me.

    It's also why...

    Re: GIK?

See my thread about hanging GIK panels on the ceiling; I felt that they made an improvement:

Something not mentioned in that thread is that I ordered...

    Re: Fugly CD player

I'd need to see it in person, but I may be the only one here that doesn't think it's that bad.

But that's just me. There are some manufacturers whose gear makes my eyes gag; I couldn't own it no...

    Re: Leaving Components On Continuously

Schiit recommends leaving their Yggdrasil DAC powered on all the time, so I do that.

My Coda pre has no power button, so it stays on too.

My Cherry monos and Bryston BDP-2 go into a sleep mode,...
  6. Re: Oswalds Mill Audio. How a $300K speaker is made

Would love to hear some of the speakers, and I'm a fan of interesting design. I remember thinking years ago that the Mini would probably be the only doable one size-wise, although they have a new...

    Re: An excelllent preamp

Have been using a Coda 07x since June. It's used so not sure of the age; remember reading somewhere that improvements were made over the years to the 07x without the model number changing. Bought...
  9. Re: Servers / Players and Playlists... I Can't Be the Only One

Good to know, thanks; although I don't want to involve the computer, and am not enthused about buying a Roon core.
  10. Servers / Players and Playlists... I Can't Be the Only One

Recently I switched to USB connection (thread here ) between my Bryston BDP-2 and DAC, which means that I'm actually not utilizing the BDP's strength, namely it's in-house-designed SPDIF output. ...

Horseshoe crab, Wildwood, NJ. Shot with a Mamiya RB67 Pro-S. Scanned from the neg.

Re: Adventures in USB - Schiit Unison Upgrade

Think Bryston uses a Linux OS, and my previous Auraliti PK100 file player did too. The Yggdrasil DAC requires a driver download (which I didn't need) to work with Windows. I've had no experience...
  13. Re: Post a Picture, a Photograph, an Image, a Drawing.....That you like to share.

Shot on expired Polaroid 665 positive/negative film using a modified Polaroid 110A camera with Rodenstock Ysarex lens. Scanned from the neg.

Adventures in USB - Schiit Unison Upgrade

Was never interested in USB for digital audio; seeing the plethora of add-ons, de-crapifiers, and virtual hoops that audiophiles were jumping through was a turn off. Also I don’t have any DSD files,...
  16. Re: Need a little education in Class D? What's the latest (and greatest) ?

Found a used pair of the 48v Maraschinos; received them on Friday. Using them, the TDAI-3400 integrated is now employed as pre / room correction only. This is the first pair of monos for me.

Dang... I live in Philly, have a truck, and could use an extra 71 million. Oh well.
  18. Re: Need a little education in Class D? What's the latest (and greatest) ?

I think the amp I would most like to hear is the AGD Audion / Vivace. Proprietary Class D using gallium-nitride.
  19. Re: Need a little education in Class D? What's the latest (and greatest) ?

The Cherry Maraschino caught my interest a while back and was surprised to find the company is in Allentown PA, where I used to live. The proprietary class D, the small form, and... I like the looks...

Re: Thoughts on Benchmark AHB2 sound ...

Would like to try the LA4. When I had my AHB2 it was paired with with an Ayre KX-5 Twenty. I liked that combo except for the mechanical noise of the Ayre's volume control.
  21. Re: Post a Picture, a Photograph, an Image, a Drawing.....That you like to share.

From a few years ago, shot in Portland, ME. On film using a twin lens reflex... don't remember which one I used.

    Re: Benchmark ahb2 power amplifier?

I had one for a while; only sold it because I moved to an integrated.

I liked the small form, but it was really crowded on the back. Getting two and going the mono route would make cabling...

Re: Most of today’s recordings are ‘fake’

I hate most auto-tune vocals but many people seem to like it. The world is big enough to accommodate both types.

It's easy to get caught up in process when it's the final result that matters. ...
