    Re: Esoteric K-05XD

The pricing mentioned there is interesting:
"Those after the last word in stereo disc replay should start here Tested at £11,650 / $12,000 / AU$15,000"
    Let's convert to USD.
    UK price for K-05XD =...

Just highlighting the reality of living in the worlds most isolated capital city. The last two new cars I bought the dealers didn't have any cars they could show me. None. The wait for a new Kia was...

    Re: Magico S5 mk3

I'm the opposite. I've never demo'd a speaker before I ordered it. And never test drive a car before ordering it. The only demo I've done is the Halcro Eclipse power amp, and the Ether Regen....

    Re: Magico S5 mk3

Back in the day S3, S5 and S7 were about half the price of today's Mk3's. That's a lot of money for a dealer to wear to have demo examples sitting in a show room. Speakers of this pedigree could be...

    Re: Which Esoteric amp?

I have an Esoteric front end, but when I saw on the Esoteric YT channel that it takes three days warm up for M1X to sound its best I crossed it off my list for further consideration.

    Re: Magico S5 mk3

I vaguely recall reading an AW interview where he explained why there won't be a new version of the S7. Of course, he might have changed his mind since then.

They've probably gazed into their crystal ball and concluded they can set that price and still sell as many as they can build, so it doesn't matter if the high price is opening up the width of the...

I dare say S5-3 will be a S7/M2 killer. It might also be an M3 killer.

M3 was launched in 2016 so it's been almost 8 years now yet the younger S5 beat it to an upgrade.

Re: To clock or not to clock?

Why would what clock not work, the master sound discrete clock? or the external clock?

USB input uses the master sound discrete clock as the master clock, not the external clock. It's designed...

Re: To clock or not to clock?

    Correct. And no it doesn't.

There is a master clock generator, which gets connected to the 10 MHz input of the DAC.
There is the master sound discrete clock, which is inside the DAC which you...

It is used to connect a master clock generator - which has higher precision and lower phase noise than the internal master sound discrete clock - to the clock synchronization circuit to produce a...

Re: To clock or not to clock?

How they should be used properly is written in the owners manual. In your case you can expect better sound clocking the N-03T to the K-05XD compared to using the USB connection. But you are wasting...

Re: To clock or not to clock?

Not quite right. In D1X an external clock is only used to synchronize any digital sources which support external clock. If the digital sources do not support external clock you do not clock D1X. In...

    Re: Magico S5 mk3

Yeah, here we go again. A new Magico product to test the longevity of my M3's. Obviously no upgrade option for S5Mk2 owners. Q7 was the only upgradeable speaker Magico ever did, right?

Re: To clock or not to clock?

Correct. Syncronization between USB source and DAC happens over USB bi-direction communication. The DAC needs to tell the USB source when it's ready to receive the next chunk of data. If I had a...
  25. Re: Esoteric announce new master clock generator G-05

I looked at the US distributor MSRP on Esoteric, your price is heaps more expensive than Australian RRP. And your MSRP doesn't include tax whereas Australian RRP includes tax.
