Re: Qobuz And Tidal vs Spotify
After using Qobuz and Tidal, i ended up with Qobuz only because it is cheaper and does not require me to have a MQA-capable DAC.
Spotify is the way to go if one wants to share music with others.... -

Can you be more specific? What about a Pantone reference? [emoji6]

Re: Which TurnTable - 50K range?
I have to assume that at the $50k price range they must all sound great. So I would be looking for the nicest looking turntable; any “normal” looking turntable will not do.

Re: Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
Here is a suggested solution to the OP’s question: there is no such a thing as a ‘real’ audiophile, instead there is an ‘old’ audiophile:
‘Old’ Audiophile = Does not stream -

Why CDs may actually sound better than vinyl (Article)
I don’t think that the author is proposing to bring back the CD.
As I see it, CDs are dead. I interpret the article as explaining the reasons why the 16/44 digital format of the CD is technically... -

Excellent article. The article lists and explains the reasons why CDs are technically superior to LPs. LPs and CDs sound different. And some folks may still prefer listening to LPs regardless of its...

Re: Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
How about :
‘real audiophiles’ are poseurs pretending to be audiophiles? They want to be audiophiles so badly that they find it necessary to attempt to differentiate themselves. [emoji16] -

Re: Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
You were looking for confirmation bias. And of course you cherry picked responses that satisfied your bias. All is well is the ‘real’ audiophile world. [emoji16]

Re: Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
Technically speaking I am streaming the digital copy from my hard drive. To me, that streamed file sounds the same as the LP.
Now, if your question is whether streaming from a music service... -

Re: Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
Seriously. I only did my 45rpm LPs because I felt those were the best sounding LPs in my collection and would allow me to better compare the sound using the exact same system. During the comparison,...

Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
I recently digitized my collection of 45rpm LPs. I tried using the ADC in my computer for the task. Supposedly it was good for high resolution but at first try I immediately decided that it had too...

I used to think that audiophiles were primarily music lovers who also enjoyed a good reproduction. But I am no longer sure.
I see now that way too many 'audiophiles' are primarily obsessed with... -

Agree. Another good reason for choosing streaming because the user avoids dealing with discs degradation, multiple backups, etc.

I have been a Roon user for several years. Gone through several updates both with Roon and Windows. Never noticed any degradation in the sound. But I welcome any objective information that you can...

Re: Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
I am not aware of remastered versions that only appear on LP. To me, it would make little economic sense to do a remaster and just release it in analogue in this day and age. In your “Tea for the...

Nope. I cannot tell a difference in sound quality when playing music that I own vs the same recordings being streamed. All conditions being equal: physical CDs, ripped CDs, or streamed music all...

Of course, that individual can be a real audiophile. Otherwise, people who are already dead or about to die would be the only real audiophiles in the world.

Totally disagree about the cheaper or better quality. If your musical taste is limited and you only plan to own a small collection of a few selected artist, then it might be cheaper. But if you are...

Don’t real audiophiles own their own media?
The audiophile that you are talking about is what I call the ‘old school’ audiophile.
There is now a ‘new school’ audiophile who is computer savvy and who is into streaming.
Not surprisingly,... -

I totally agree. There will always be a few diehards that feel better owning physical media but that number keeps shrinking. As far as streaming, Spotify with nearly 150 million subscribers and...
