    Re: Newbie streamer

I was thinking along the lines of Bart but if the T1 is cheaper then that seems like a good move. Use which DAC sounds best or both for a choice.

    I had a Hegel HD30 DAC and auditioned a 590 for a...

Re: CD transport no dac required

The cheapest decent transport I'm aware of is Cambridge Audio at about $400.00.

Sim is a good suggestion. Bel Canto also has one but not sure of pricing.

Being able to play SACD would be nice.

Re: Volti Rivals - 3 months in

Volti definitely sound great. I always make a point to have a listen at Axpona to them and Sadurni when they are there.
  11. Re: Am I Doing my new MC462 a great disservice?

*> I'm not very familiar with the operation of the Oppo but I believe it has variable outputs, meaning if using them the Oppo has a volume control. If you know how to use this, it may be fun to...

    Re: Speaker cables

True, if no room treatment the improvement can be dramatic.

I use Clarus, Crimson and they are very good, the background is dark, highs are beautiful, overall nicely balanced I'd say. I did find...
  13. Re: Am I Doing my new MC462 a great disservice?

Which DAC are you using, Oppo or internal Marantz? Just curious if you've compared.

I don't know about disservice but a dedicated stereo preamp would be a place to upgrade. If you still do HT...

    Re: MacDaddy ACS10 arrives

I've got the ACS10 with 8x2 TB HD. It defied the laws of diminishing returns. I had a similar product that retailed at $4k I actually wasn't very happy with the sound, the ACS10 was at least twice...

    Re: Notice this with Tidal?

It happened again today, my Michel Petrucini album didn't have the songs. I did go back and searched him as an artist and found the album again and was able to add it again to my library. Maybe it...

    Re: Dynaudio Contour 60

I agree, new speakers have sounded decent out of the box but definitely better after break in. If something sounded "negative or broken then there must been an issue.

    I actually bought my...
  19. Re: Recommended medium to large bookshelf/stand mounted speakers?

I saw Sonist last time I was at Axpona and spoke to the owner, however, I can't find a website. Not sure what to think about that.
  20. Re: Recommended medium to large bookshelf/stand mounted speakers?

I'm not familiar with model numbers but from what you describe maybe take a listen to Spendor or Salk, although I'd have to check specs on Salk to see if tube friendly.

I really like Sonist for a...

    Re: Dynaudio Contour 60

When I bought a new set of Dyn's I thought they'd never break in, I'm sure the guys at the store were as glad as I was when they finally did, I'd call about once a week, "are you sure...."
