    Re: Preamplifier for X260.8 Monoblocks

Production is finally ramping back up at Pass so hopefully your wait won't be much longer
  2. Re: The Pass Labs XA 60.8 Monoblock Amplifier Review

This pair just arrived (and breaking in). :)

Re: Pass INT-60 or Boulder 866?

The INT-60 is 93 pounds; the Boulder 866 is 54 pounds.

Re: Pass INT-60 or Boulder 866?

Isnít there a significant price difference? And power? Also IIRC the Boulder has 3 balanced ins, the Pass 2 balanced and 2 SE.

As far as binding posts itís tough to beat (or even equal) those on...

Re: Got New DAC - MSB Premier

The real question is what relevance this and your earlier post have to this topic thread?? You don't mention the MSB Premier, and it isn't even clear what you are trying to communicate. Are you...

    Re: USB cables & musings

I moved from AQ Carbon to the short Curious USB to the Sablon Audio Evo USB, with improvement noted at each step; quite a large one moving to Sablon but it came with a price "penalty."

    WRT your...

    Re: Aqua msrp?

I would predict (not having heard it) that the Formula xHD at $17.5k provides some serious competition to the MSB Discrete (with its new higher pricing) and DCS Bartok

    Re: Aqua msrp?

It seems unlikely (those prices are still the same as about 2 years ago), but these days, who knows??
  9. Re: The Absolute Sound Interview with Olympic Legend and Veteran Audiophile Mark Spitz

Eventually fixed by technical team (only a few hours; relatively quick in this day and age)
  10. Re: The Absolute Sound Interview with Olympic Legend and Veteran Audiophile Mark Spitz

Lee, not your fault but there appears to be a problem logging in to the digital TAS. Password isn't recognized, and when it is changed ("successfully") the new one is then not recognized, ad...

    Re: Acoustat-X

Someone is a little confused here. The Models 3 and 4 came right after the X and were the last to use the S-C amps. The panels in those were raised about 10-12Ē but they did not have the pedestal...

    Re: Acoustat-X

The biggest problem with the Model 4 and the Monitor 4 (which you have) is that the 4 panel models sound better in a 2+2 configuration than in the 4 across configuration. Many Acoustat owners...

    Re: Acoustat-X

I'm not sure why this poster is speculating from random recollections. There are many images and other discussions of the Monitor 4 on-line, and it is clear that this is what you have. The Model 4...

    Re: Acoustat-X

I'm fairly sure those are the second iteration of the Monitor 4; IIRC the first version still used the S-C amps.

    Re: Acoustat-X

From 1977 through 1995 I owned several versions of Acoustats, first the X, then the Monitor 4 and finally the 2+2, although always with the S-C amps, which went through several modifications by Ray...

    Re: Acoustat-X

Do you have pictures? The Acoustat X was only sold with the Servo-Charge amps, so either the transformers were "retro-fitted" or they are actually Monitor 3's.

    Re: DAC's $5k - $11k

Although it is a bit counter-intuitive (given the price range), MSB owners seem to move up to higher-priced MSB DACs, and you (or Mike) may be able to find a used Discrete (with the necessary...
  20. Re: MOFI One Stepís - is it tape or digital? The big debate

Doug Sax stated long ago in a Stereophile interview that he could cut better sounding lacquers from a 24/192 PCM file than straight from the analog tape. That is only one engineer's opinion, though.

    Re: audiophile angst

Too bad the article started with discussing T Bone Burnette, whose producing (or mastering) has ruined or at least worsened the sound of many albums, including the two mentioned.

Re: HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer Review

    I don't find a player or streamer without a built-in DAC?

On a separate but related note, do you carry the RS201E? Either way, do you know the current price of this unit?

Re: HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer Review

Pretty sure the "base" rate is 256k AAC, with "upgrades" up to 24/192 (although I don't know how many albums are available at 24/192). I don't subscribe so I may have some details wrong (I get...
