    [QUOTE=MikeCh;297928]David,

What are your brothers speakers currently?...or that he's had that he loved or disliked?

In his previous larger home he had Klipsch La Scala's. And in a second room...

    Re: Coronavirus Live Updates

Of course you're right. I'm old enough to remember the nuclear drills in school where we would hide under our desk.
    Ahh the good old days.

    Re: Coronavirus Live Updates

Is it even possible to really be prepared for this or any other pandemic/disaster?
Just heard on the radio this morning from a Michigan State Doctor that for Michigan alone to have enough mask,...

They look interesting but as floor standers they are too tall.

    Speaker recommendation

My brother called me yesterday looking for a recommendation for a pair of speakers.
He doesn't want to spend more than $1000. New or used OK. Front ported or sealed. No subs. Max size

Re: The lockdown: One Month in Wuhan (CGTN)

    Thank you for posting this.
It provides a more personal perspective of Wuhan than is provided by other news sources.
Much praise to those individuals that have stepped up their game to provide...

    Re: Coronavirus Live Updates

Just checking the latest reports on the spread in Michigan.
It appears that areas with a more global mobile population are the ones that are being hit earlier, while the more rural counties are...

    Re: Coronavirus Live Updates

It's very easy to look back and criticize actions by the (President/Government) in this unprecedented pandemic.
Perhaps if you had been put in charge we would have been over this crisis by now.

    Re: Power off the Lumin

I use the auto off on my A1.
By doing so it just goes to sleep (minimum power consumption) without disruption of the main power.
This keeps the circuitry partially active, avoiding warm up and...

    Looks nice.
    So how does it sound?
Any imbalance from the opening on the left and the stairwell?

    Re: jdandy R.I.P.

I always looked forward to Dan's post in the "What are you listening to" forum.
My musical taste aligned with his and I was able to "discover" many new artist from his listings.
    He will be missed....

Re: No audio from Lumin X1

As a possibility, if the XLR you were using was an AES/EBU connection then that was a digital output. Whereas the RCA's are an analog output.
Just change this in the settings from digital out to...
  15. Re: Phenolic Resin (Lab Top) Audio Rack Shelves? Maybe even HPL?

P.S. some of the older laboratory counter tops contained asbestos.
Best to stay away from that.

The University salvage yards are a great place for unusual, high quality items for very reasonable prices.
I've sourced several things from the MI disposal site in the past and I'm sure MSU has some...

    Re: B.M.C. PureVox

Those speakers look really interesting. The rear/up-firing drivers should throw out a very holographic soundstage.

    Re: What is Really Important...

A question on picking the seat location first.
Don't the room node locations change with the placement of the speakers?
I certainly hear changes from a fixed seat position when moving the speakers....

    Re: Inexpensive Tube Tester Recommendation

The Orange is a basic "Go-No Go" tester. It really doesn't tell you much about the tube beyond that.
It's sensitivity and accuracy are only acceptable at best.
    But it is new.
    Good luck with your...

    Re: Inexpensive Tube Tester Recommendation

The 606 is so simple that not much can go wrong.
Perhaps a better option is to Pick up a TV-7 from FleaBay for around $500 and send it out to Dan Nelson (the TV-7 guru) for refurbishing ($200-$300...

    Re: Inexpensive Tube Tester Recommendation

    B&K 606. Vintage tester.
Hard to beat for the price.
Reasonably accurate, test a wide variety of tubes.
    Simple and compact.
