Re: Ready to make a change

With that size room you may want to look into the Klipschorn ( if you have clear corners ) if not the Klipsch Lascallas would be another great choice, speaking from experience. They also love tube...

Re: Best vintage TT purchase option

I have an Empire model 398 - it's built like a tank and friends who have never seen an Empire are amazed at it's performance. You may still find one for under $1,000 but it's getting harder all the...

Re: Ever see a Dim Bulb Tester?

Jazzman53, that looks pretty spiffy, is that basically a switch connected to the bulb, bulb to a transformer and the transformer to an outlet? If so what are the specs on the tranny, if I may ask?

Re: Do you use an integrated in your main system?

With my renewed HH Scott 296 Integrated amp connected to my 12 year old Cornscala's (the new Klipsch Cornwall IV, by the looks of it!), with the source being a Bluesound Vault 2 - well I couldn't ask...

Re: What would you choose ?

Really depends on if the Mcintosh's are tube or SS. Makes all the difference in the world.

Re: Do you prefer SS or tube? Why?

To get back to the original question, I guess I still find tubes win out for ultimate organic sound, as long as you have efficient speakers.
  25. Re: How long does it take to adequately warm up the tubes (power and preamp) of a tube amp designed for home audio?

About 9 to 10 minutes for my HH Scott 299C - 15 minutes for my Scott 296.
