I just received my new Planet of the Apes Legacy Collection 5-disc DVD set.
This is the replacement for the defective Blu-ray set I returned to amazon.com. That set had defects on some of the discs causing playback freeze on at least one of them.
This new DVD set had... -

Some Blu-ray player software might not perform well for certain Blu-ray discs.
This holds true especially for BD's packaged with extras and commentaries on the same disc as the feature presentation.
I just tried to play my new West Side Story BD (that came in a factory box... -

I'm watching the 1977 film, The Pack (Robert Clouse/Warner Bros), about wild dogs who kill people on an island.
It is a new Blu-ray disc I'm test-watching to check for skips.
The plot is a prime example of human stupidity. It's a prime example of how not to run an island.
1. the buildings in the setting... -

Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
Yes, you will get more movie choices on disc. I'm still intrigued by the notion of movies' (of the highest audio/video quality) being sold on some solid-state hard media that plugs into a USB port or...

Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
I just ordered Planet of the Apes "Original Five" in the DVD version from amazon.com. Only about $25 for the whole box new. While I was at it, I got the complete In Search Of Television series...

Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
I still don't trust movie streaming services. Netflix has a monthly subscription fee and there is never any guarantee they have a certain title I want. Unless one's Internet service is stellar,...

Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
It's now apparent to me that Blu-ray discs are more sensitive and less forgiving of surface imperfections than their DVD counterparts. I think offering factory movie titles on solid-state memory...

Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
After my new Beneath the Planet of the Apes, 1970 BD disc failed on the PC, I took the trouble to hook the Panasonic BD player up to the TV and try it there. Same thing. Freezes dead in the same spot...

Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
I tried buying a streamable movie from amazon.com Prime but only once. Wolfen, 1981, $7.99. The damn thing had the last four minutes cut off toward the end. Suffice it to say, I don't trust this...

Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's, DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?
Defects right out of the factory-sealed box might included contaminated or dirty playing surfaces, scratches and performance issues like skips, audio cutout and/or picture freezes.
My new... -

Re: Does the FM antenna that came with your tuner amp/stereo receiver suck?
I never thought of a stereo receiver as sounding BRIGHT or DARK. I think that is more in the equalizer, bass and/or treble settings. I think the Musicolet player equalizer ROCK setting on my phone...

Re: Does the FM antenna that came with your tuner amp/stereo receiver suck?
Yes, Big Cat, I'm not really interested in all that. What it means in the context of a casual non-geek human ear's listening to Bach, Dave Brubeck Quartet or James Brown on the home stereo or car...

Re: Does the FM antenna that came with your tuner amp/stereo receiver suck?
Sorry, Gruble. It just annoys me that any of my cheap portable AM/FM radios, older and newer, can receive local Des Moines, Iowa FM music stations so well while the long, thin, limp wire antenna that...

Re: Does the FM antenna that came with your tuner amp/stereo receiver suck?
I just checked that link out. It looks like a mess to try to read. I think my best bet is to try an antenna from amazon.
If it doesn't perform to my satisfaction, it is easily returnable.

Does the FM antenna that came with your tuner amp/stereo receiver suck?
Both Sony and Marantz, even, supply a puny spaghetti wire as an "FM antenna" and the reception is not too good where I live, suffice it to say. Why can't they just put in a chrome telescoping...

Re: Ideas for making a home system that looks neat.
That is simple enough. Cardboard box material custom-cut and rattle-can spray painted flat black to make back panels for the AV rack. Keeps inside of cabinet dark and ugly rear-panel wires plumb...
