Poll: Re: Joe's next speakers
Unless you're killing that back-wave, 3' is the minimum. 5' is better.

Re: JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...
OT: @joeinid -- You ever get those big Harbeths? I really like the 30.1. Love to know what you think about the 40.1 after the 30.1's!

Re: JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...
There is no right or wrong answer here. It's like you saying "I like Merlot" and me shouting "I'm not drinking any f***ing Merlot!". There's nothing wrong with Merlot. It's a matter of taste. The...

Re: Pass XA.5 vs XA.8
I've heard the Holograms twice now, and it was with the same gear. Interestingly, the sound was not only good, but (not surprisingly, given the design) completely consistent -- surprising, because...

Re: JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...
I think this nails it precisely on the head.
The other part, then, is the synergy with the speaker. I wouldn't, for example, shoot for a loudspeaker that veers toward the neutral or bright, or... -

Re: JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...
Jeez. What a giant thread ... sorry to jump in late.
Fun amp. Great price/performance ratio. Not a universal can opener, though.
Sorry to be something of a tease, but I do have a review of the... -

Re: Pass XA.5 vs XA.8
I think the Holograms are fantastic speakers for the money. They do a very neat job of removing the room. You're going to want a sub or 3, though, to get the "down-there", but that's risky -- there's...

Re: Kaiser Kawero or Raidho D3 or Vivid Giya G2?
TIDAL Audio might be a good one to look at, if you're already considering ceramic-driver loudspeakers.

Re: Pass XA.5 vs XA.8
I'm getting a pair of 100.8 monos at some point, to do a comparison to the 100.5 monos I've had. No idea when, exactly, but should be this summer.

Re: Killer 300b amps
BorderPatrol makes some crazy-good amps, and the paralleled one has enough juice to do bad things with most speakers. But I like my SET. 8 watts and almost 200 lbs of iron and copper. Crazy.

Growing up on a farm and fairly sheltered, the original Shogun series captivated me, and led to a lifelong fascination with the Japanese aesthetic. The new series was excellent. I was expecting high...
