Re: Amp Recommendation for Harbeth Super HL5+HD

My SHL5+HDs sound great with a McIntosh C2700 and pair of Mc3500Mk2s. And people say tube amps can’t drive Harbeth’s. 😉

    Re: *NEW* Esoteric N-05XD

Trying to decide whether the N-01XD is worth an extra $9,000 over the N-05XD. I won’t be using the pre-amp/headphone amp in the N-05XD, but don’t mind them being there if there isn’t much noticeable...

    Re: Audio Research 160M

Has ARC confirmed that Ref 260M is in the works? I just ordered a Ref 6SE PreAmp with a Ref 3SE phono. My speakers are Magnepan 20.7 and was concerned that the Ref160Ms didn’t have enough power...

ARC 160M Monoblocks for Maggie 20.7?

Would a pair of 140 watt Audio Research Reference 160M Monoblocks work well with a pair of Maggie 20.7, or would I be better off using high powered ss amps like a pair of Bryston 7B3 (600 watts into...

    7B3 vs 28B3

I am putting a new system together. Maggie 20.7 at one end and an ARC Ref 6SE and a Ref 3SE Phono stage at the other. I was leaning toward a pair of Bryston 7B3 monos as my power amps. Is there...

    Sub for Maggie 3.7i

What subs are recommended for a pair of 3.7i? ML BalancedForce 210 has been recommended. Any others? How about a Balanced Force 212, or is that too much? Amps are Bryston 7B3 and an ARC pre-amp...

Re: Help with amp and Maggies

Hi Dave - for the pre-amp either the ARC LS28SE or maybe the Reference 6SE and likely a pair of Bryston 7B3 monos. Thought about McIntosh Mc611. Brystons sounded great and take up a little less...

Thanks for all of the help everyone. I am going to go with an ARC pre-amp and Bryson power amps. I just listened to that set up and it was great!

Thanks to everyone for their insightful and thoughtful responses. An SS amp would certainly make things simpler and less expensive.

Thanks! Yes, Overture. Really nice guys there. Joe is helping me out. It seems that people advise against tubes with Maggie’s.

    Help with amp and Maggies

I am looking to upgrade my stereo. I do it about once every 20 years, so I’d like to do it in one shot. This is for mostly vinyl and streaming through a Marantz SACD 30N. Room is 14’x24’x8’.
