  1. Re: Mono Button Not Working When Tape Monitor 2 is Engaged

I alternately used tape monitor 1 over the years with either a free-standing CD burner/player or with an EQ unit. I have two sets of speakers in two different rooms. I am currently using tape...
  2. Mono Button Not Working When Tape Monitor 2 is Engaged

    I have a Pioneer SX-650 amplifier/receiver.

The amp includes a mono button and two tape monitor options.

The mono button works when neither of the tape monitors are engaged, and it also...

    Re: Turntables with Romovable Spindles

I can't even begin to tell you how many albums I have that I've been lucky to stumble across only once and never find another copy of again. And this from someone who was routinely scarfing up LPs...

    Re: Turntables with Romovable Spindles

Well, I have about 6,000 LPs, so I could answer "yes" based on that alone, but I am in the market for a new turntable anyway.

As far as aligning the records, there is some trial and error...

    Turntables with Romovable Spindles

Does anyone make a decent, semi-affordable turntable with a removable spindle, say, in the under-$1,000 range?

  8. Re: Hardware for Adjusting the Center Image in Stereo

That is interesting. With some of the cheap software and hardware offering a "stereo expand" feature, the phantom center is reduced.
  9. Re: Hardware for Adjusting the Center Image in Stereo

Thank you. Would you say that the descriptive phrase "widening the soundstage" equates to the ability to control the volume of the phantom center relative to the left and right?
  10. Re: Leapwing Centerone Plug-In for Adjusting Stereo Center

Thank you. The plug-in controls the volume level of the center image, not the position. The idea is it allows you to adjust stereo recordings where the center is mixed too high relative to the left...
  11. Leapwing Centerone Plug-In for Adjusting Stereo Center

I found a plug-in called a Leapwing Centerone, which allows you to adjust the volume of the stereo center in real-time. Has anyone tried it?

  12. Re: Hardware for Adjusting the Center Image in Stereo

Not sure I understand what you are saying. Some suggested that I was talking about the position of the center image, whereas I as talking about the relative volume of the center image. I realize...
  13. Re: Hardware for Adjusting the Center Image in Stereo

    Bumping this thread.

I found a plug-in called a Leapwing Centerone which allows you to adjust the center image in real-time. Since I back up all me CDs and pair my laptop with external speakers,...
  14. Cord for MacBook Air and Bose SoundTouch 20

My MacBook Air has what I believe is called a USB C, although in my searches, I have seen two different looking ports with that name.

The Bose docking station has a Micro B port, which from my...

    Re: Digitizing Mono LPs

I was only recently experimenting with the "isolate center" feature, but I was using some older dubs I did using a free-standing CD-R recorder that was part of my stereo setup. I no longer have it. ...

    Re: Digitizing Mono LPs

Well, I just did some A/B tests of a mono LP, with a reasonable amount of low-level surface noise, digitized in stereo. I played it back in mono - which is what I always do with mono LPs - and also...

    Re: Digitizing Mono LPs

Thank you. Good to know, but that is not quite what I am asking.

I am asking if anyone has ever digitized a mono LP in stereo, with a stereo stylus, and loaded the stereo file into Audacity. ...

    Digitizing Mono LPs

Wasn't sure which forum to post this in.

I'm guessing that most people here know that mono LPs sound better when played back in mono, as anomalies are reduced or eliminated through the +6 dB...

Re: Ceiling Height and Speaker Sound

Not diagonal. Opposite corners of the same wall. One has a high ceiling, one low. but as I stated earlier, I already solved the problem. All is good!

Re: Making the Move to Headphones

Headphones IMO are good only if you are able to narrow the panning. To many albums have extreme panning.

    Re: Subwoofer 101

I have found that on stereo records in which the bass is mixed to one side, such as Mingus Ah Um, Cal Tjader's Several Shades of Jade, and Vince Guaraldi's 1960s Fantasy albums, I prefer to extend...
