Re: Synergistic Research BLUE Quantum Fuse....WOW
I put an orange fuse into my Aesthetix Calypso Signature preamp this week. The positive change was instant and unmistakable. Less noise means more detail and overall coherence.

Re: Price increase report thread
Yes, Peobody, with broad inflation occurring, the opportunity may be for us to identify "last chance" opportunities to buy before the price bump. (Thanks, Mike, for alerting people to VAC). These...

Price increase report thread
I just heard it through the grapevine that Magico has increased its prices across the board. For instance, the Magico M2 MSRP went up $8k from $68,500 to $76,500 USD. Costs of all sorts are rising,...

Re: Help needed: Calypso volume variance between standard and Signature.
THANK YOU CPUCATH! I am very relieved to find an answer.
A simple fix and now it sounds good. My amps are high gain, so the Signature set on high gain left me with little play on the volume... -

Help needed: Calypso volume variance between standard and Signature.
I just stepped up from the standard Calypso to the Signature version (with different caps and other internal parts). One thing I noticed immediately is that I must set the volume level lower to...

Re: M2 - Incoming
I will try to avoid the familiar superlatives, but the M2 is the biggest upgrade I've ever made. I'm stunned. Greater coherency is the difference. And that makes every sound frequency sound clearer....

Re: M2 - Incoming
Well, the M2 weighs 5 lbs. more than the S3 Mk2 and is a much deeper (if 3" shorter) profile. My room dimensions are perfect for the M2. That said, I would prefer the M3. It is a better speaker,...

M2 - Incoming
Well folks, it is the end of one era and the beginning of another for me. I have some of the first S3 Mk2's to to come into production in 2017. I can't count how many times I've said out loud what...

Re: Power amplifiers that excel with very low impedance - and low efficiency loads
I take your point but I can find no meaningful fault with timbre from the PS Audio M700s. Listening to piano right now and all is very good. If you want anyone to "voice" the ICE module to sound...

Is this a bottom tier of favourite ampliers? Or is it Jay's list of the bottom tier of high-end priced amps to be avoided?

Re: Power amplifiers that excel with very low impedance - and low efficiency loads
This week, partly for amusement, partly because I got a good price, I bought a pair of M700 PS Audio class D amps on the used market. We have a kitten in the house and the Parasound JC 1+ run hot as...

Honestly as I was reading through this thread I thought to myself those Heisenbergs had better be good because I have never heard anything sound as good as Solution.

Rectifier Tube Rolling Wonders
So I finally got around to swapping out the PS Vane 240b rectifier with a Emission Labs 5U4G on my Atlantic Plus SE. The change in sound is so profound that I half suspect I am imagining it. ...

Re: New Gear! Parasound JC 1+ monos (w/ Magico S3 mk2)
Good qualification, Steve, regarding green energy. The JC 1+ is counter-revolutionary when it comes to energy efficiency. They run hot and the first 25 watts are pure class A. Also, they sound...

Re: New Gear! Parasound JC 1+ monos (w/ Magico S3 mk2)
Thanks, Joe! Just to be clear, they definitely sound beautiful. As far as looks go, maybe not so much. Austere is the best you can say (along with "huge"). The faceplate makes the amp look like...

New Gear! Parasound JC 1+ monos (w/ Magico S3 mk2)
I'm enjoying these newly designed 450 watt beasts, which are proving to be a better match for my speakers than the tube/mosfet PS Audio hybrids I was running for several years. Enhancements to...

Audirvana DSD Conversion on A+ DSD512
So I have an A+ with DSD512, which is cool because it is like having two dacs. With the front buttom depressed I am DSD only from an FPGA convertor. With the front buttom undepressed I am using...
