Re: Taiko Audio Olympus Music Server

I see. I don't know what other audio companies do this (not saying there aren't) but it does make sense for the company and the consumer, assuming the consumer is interested in (and can afford to...

Re: Taiko Audio Olympus Music Server

What’s your point? That it is expensive? Yes, we know that.

The fact that they are giving people 100% retail value for their Extreme trade-in is significant. Not many companies do this.

Re: Taiko Audio Olympus Music Server

Understood. Emile wrote a long post this morning on WBF discussing the development path of XDMI. It is worth reading to fill in the blanks.

Re: Taiko Audio Olympus Music Server

What are you frustrated about? It seems like the best of all worlds. You can 1) do nothing and enjoy your Extreme; 2) get an I/O to take advantage of their new XDMI interface; or 3) get the new...
  5. Re: How much time have you spent on your server-based music library?

I have spent 300-400 hours getting the metadata correct and consistent. A huge portion of my music library is live music which is not available via the streaming services and requires doing my own...

    Re: Firmware Version 16

Are all the version 16 changes Plex related? That is, if we don't use Plex do we need to install the bug fix releases?

    Re: Firmware Version 16

No. That is the initial release of version 16 in May. I think it is now up to 16, rel H.

    Firmware Version 16

Is there a reason why the the various release notes for version 16 aren’t on the website? I keep getting asked if I want to upgrade but I can’t tell what changed.

    Re: Lumin U2 Mini

I agree. Fiber and cooper sound different but I wouldn’t consider fiber necessarily an upgrade.

The power supply is critical for these servers. I bought the U2 mini and built a Sean Jacobs DC...

Re: Lumin L2 Music Library and Network Switch

    Actually, the options are:

    1 - No drives
    2 - 2 x 2TB drives (4 TB total)
    3 - 2 x 4TB drives (8 TB total)

I am curious if the 4 TB drives or 8 TB total are system limits or just what is being...

Re: Lumin L2 Music Library and Network Switch

Can one use larger drives than 4 TB? Is that a system limitation or is 4 TB just the largest being offered?

What is the value of having an internal switch? Wouldn't the best performance be...

Is Plex support the only change in firmware version 16.0? I can’t seem to find any release notes.

    I am...

Re: Lumin U2 (with internal LPS and SFP port)

In my experience power conditioning/distribution does not compensate for large differences in power supplies.
  16. Re: Taiko Audio’s New TACDA & TACDD DAC & Interface

I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  17. Re: Taiko Audio’s New TACDA & TACDD DAC & Interface

The switch is not included in the cost of the server right now.

No one is obligated to buy the switch. Most people who own Extremes already own audio quality switches.

    Does any server...
  18. Re: Taiko Audio’s New TACDA & TACDD DAC & Interface

1 - Switch which is used between the internet source and the Taiko Audio Extreme. The input to the switch is either fiber...

    Re: Lumin U2 Mini

People have learned that everything matters when it comes to digital audio. The only question is, "how much?"

NAS is not noiseless so what you have put together could be just as good. The only...

    Re: Lumin U2 Mini

RAID (with redundancy) is great to protect against a single drive failure. I have 4 NAS boxes and love them. However, I had one Synology volume crash and it was unrecoverable. If I didn't have a...

    Re: Lumin U2 Mini

Sorry, but this is not a wise approach. NAS devices fail for reasons addition to hard drive failures. RAID is not a backup! Anyone with a music collection on a NAS should have a backup unless they...

    Re: Lumin App Request

    It is the latter.

If I turn off "add full album" I assume that would apply if I loaded an album via the artist/album folder and I would always have to double click individual songs in any folder?
