Re: Clarisys Audio Minuet Review - #2

Since my system is in a basement dedicated room, and is carpeted over concrete, I decided to not use carpet padding.
The carpet spikes do spike into the concrete below. To me, the spikes are an...

Re: Clarisys Audio Minuet Review - #2

Since the Minutes are about 220 lbs. each and that happens to be the top of the range for the Gaia 1's I decided to upgrade to the ISO Acoustics Titans. Still the same height, perhaps a little larger...

Re: AQ Pegasus/Thunderbird vs Shunyata Alpha

I owned for quite some time the Shunyata Sigma 2. I thought they were dull sounding, no excitement in dynamics, soundstage etc.

Currently I own the AQ Thunderbirds. They took quite a while to...

    Re: X1 and grounding connections.

    further,
So, I disconnected the lead from the Lumin X1 ground lug but kept the ground connection on the X1 power supply to the Russ Andrews unit. I also still have the signal ground from the X1...

    Re: X1 and grounding connections.

    further,
Interesting. Presently I have both the grounding lugs from the Lumin X1 & the PS ground going into a Russ Andrews grounding unit.
But I also have the signal ground (rca) grounded to my...

Thanks for the replies. I just wish the on/off switch was on the front panel.

Re: Lumin X1 power off procedure

    Puma Cat,
Thanks for the reply and help.
But as per my original question, is it good to keep the power supply always on, doesn't that shorten its lifespan?
BTW, Angus reply was not really helpful....

Re: Lumin X1 power off procedure

    Thanks for the post.
It's not that it gets too warm, it just seems that it does not really go into a "sleep mode". If the Lumin power supply on/off switch wasn't so difficult to reach on my rack...

Re: Lumin X1 power off procedure

So, I posed this question directly to Lumin and below is Angus response.

    Hello Ken,

The stand-by mode will leave most of the unit’s function on for music playback. Please switch it off using...

Re: New OFC Power Cord from Ice Age Audio

Just got a 2-meter XLR and a power cord from Ice Age.

I haven't tried the power cord yet but first listen using the XLR interconnect with my Lumin X1 and I am a little shocked. They sound really...

Re: Lumin X1 power off procedure

I think I agree with you, but what bothers me is the unit remains warm while in stand-by, so is it good for the unit in the long term?

Re: Lumin X1 power off procedure

Thanks. I think the remote control also can be used in the same manner as the Lumin app. However, with either method the blue light remains on, and the unit remains somewhat warm.

    Thus, my...

    Lumin X1 power off procedure

I have been turning my Lumin X1 on/off by the rear rocker switch. I must admit it is kinda of a pain to reach behind the power supply to access the switch.

Yesterday, I turned it off by the remote...

Re: Clarisys Audio Minuet Review - #2

And anchoring the speakers to the floor increases bass coupling. Resulting in tighter, deeper better-defined bass.

Re: Critical Mass Footers under Mono Blocks?

So, today I reinstalled the Critical Mass footers under the amps. Even though the bass may seem to be less, the soundstage is wider, deeper and more enjoyable. (BTW, I have 6 sets of the CM footers...

Thank you for the comments. The amps are sitting on top of a 4" maple base which has 2" Audiopoint's underneath. Perhaps I have too many?

I made sure they are level. And I do like the look of the speakers being perhaps overall 1" taller, they do sound better.

I think some of performance improvement is due...
