    isotek Power Cords

In my system Isotek Evo3 Elite and Optimum beat Shunyata Delta V2 and Audience F5 for quiet and detail. A brand frequently overlooked in the high-end power cord arena, but they deliver serious...

    Rhea Noise?

Anyone else out there experience extraneous noise with their tubed phono stage? I own a Rhea Signature which emits a loud pop any time a flourescent light fixtures switch on or off, same with ceiling...

Mike: I've owned an Avid turntable with an SME arm for 6 years now. It's operated flawlessly.

    Re: Pass X350.8

Mine took forever to break in. I have had it for about 6 months, so I'm sure it's finished, but when it was new, it had a slight bite in the treble and felt kind of closed in. Now it's really smooth...

    Re: Pass X350.8

The XA30.8 is a sweet amp. That being said, the X350.8 will give you more bass dynamics and dynamic headroom.

    Re: Pass X350.8

Hmmm. It says 35 watts in the brochure. Whatever it is, it drives Focal Scalas, at 92 db efficient, to very loud levels without leaving class A bias.

    Re: Pass X350.8

By the way, I have never moved the bias needle on this thing, no matter how loud I've played it. So the first 35 watts of output in pure Class A must be pretty potent. I would add that it is a good...

    Re: Pass X350.8

Mike: The X350.8 is a good "all-arounder". It plays very neutral tonally and can output very loudly, effortlessly and clearly. It is quite dynamic and it projects a very broad soundstage. It is a bit...

    Re: Accuphase DP550

Honestly, the only time I tried the USB input was with my wife's Ipad which has Spotify on it. Not too impressive honestly. Might have been better with a high-resolution service like Tidal. But I...

    Re: CES 2016

Mike: Check out the new Dagostino Progression Mono amps. I understand they're being demoed with Eggleston Works speakers. A bit too rich for my blood at $36k, but interesting nonetheless. Thanks!

Not a very quiet background....some audible hiss.
  17. Re: Pass Labs Point 5 Series Will Be Discontinued Sept. 1, 2015

The DP-550 is a great cd player with absolutely balanced performance. Like I said, the Pass X series is not a good match in my system. It may work better in a system with more mellow tweeters.
  18. Re: Pass Labs Point 5 Series Will Be Discontinued Sept. 1, 2015

I had the phase inverted through the entire system to Hot Pin #2 when the Pass was here. The switches on Accuphase allow you to do that, so there was no phase mismatch.
  19. Re: Pass Labs Point 5 Series Will Be Discontinued Sept. 1, 2015

I recently had the opportunity to try a friend's X250.8 in my system, which features Focal Scala V2 speakers and my existing Accuphase C2420 preamp. Well, in the final analysis, there's good and bad...

    Re: 802 d3

You would be accurate on that one. We didn't have a pair of 802d2's on hand for an A-B comparison but the basic character of B&W speakers has not been discarded for the new model. I would consider...

  25. Re: D'Agostino Master Classic Power Stereo Amplifier ….

Speakers were Wilson Alexandria XLF, Preamp was Dagostino, Source was Audio Research CD9. The system had an almost complete lack of bass slam.
