Simply love the Studer A726 FM tuner hooked up to the tube pre-amplifier on a good station such as Michael Buble's Smooth FM. To me sounds better than internet radio.

Keep an eye on the rechargeable battery soldered on the controller card. It always worries me. If it goes flat, you lose the configuration. If it leaks, it can cause damage.

I have had the opportunity to compare the McIntosh C1000P (solid state) and C1000T (tube) against various balanced sources. I was expecting that these pre-amps were very similar according to reviews...

Correction to myself: The latest firmware disables 7T by default. It can be re-enabled. I believe it can also be re-assigned freeing up an additional Balanced input. I discovered this today. More...

I have a vintage balanced Denon DSD-S10 (4x PCM1702 colinear DACs in opposition) that I am tempted to hook up to the main system just to see how it compares....It functions as a DAC also.
