    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

Chris-You had lots of reasons why moving/downsizing was the right thing for you to do and I completely understand the decisions you made. What I was addressing was the automatic script that when you...

    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

Sounds like your dermatologist is in love with Botox! You can't win the war against wrinkles because time and gravity are a bitch. And people who love them some facelifts only get a couple shots at...

    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

That may or may not be true, but there certainly seems to be an expectation from the masses that with retirement comes downsizing your home and lifestyle. I know that from the barrage of questions...

    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

Joe, I'm happy to hear that you are in your late 70s and still enjoy listening to music and are still upgrading your system! I find that refreshing.

    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

Nicoff, it isn't just downsizing your audio gear footprint. I'm quoting you here from your original post on this thread:

"The music zone is now in our living area. As for the cinema... well, it's...

    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

Where do other people get off telling you that you must downsize? That's nuts and none of their business. Now there is a commercial on TV that tells "empty nesters" that they need to sell their...

Re: Should Audio Components Sizes Be Standard?

Pro audio gear has size standards called the Rack Unit (RU). Home audio gear can be whatever size a company wants to make it. As for pulling the top off of an amplifier and not seeing much inside...

    Re: Adventures in Downsizing

Congrats for not downsizing and maintaining your love for music and having a dedicated listening room.

  12. Re: Has anybody here received NEW defective music CD's. DVD movies or Blu-ray disc movies right out of the box?

100% incorrect. ISO 9000/9001 certification doesn't guarantee any degree of quallity. It just means you paid your annual certification fees so you can fly a meaningless flag outside of your...

Re: Returning to the Roots of Musical Enjoyment

I for one am not fixated on resolution per se, I'm fixated on SQ. The majority of my digital listening is 16/44.1 files because I find they sound better than far too many "hi-rez" files. Having...

Re: Returning to the Roots of Musical Enjoyment

I assume you meant that you will retire at the end of 2024. A move from Mobile, AL to Seattle, WA is quite the move. I hope it all works out for the best.

Now we have at least two people on AS that love the sound of 320 kbps. I'm glad that you are OK with downsizing your stereo system and you are happy with the outcome.

  21. Re: I just received my new STRDH190 Sony stereo receiver!

Your new receiver puts out 90 watts per channel at 8 ohms. The minimum load for this receiver is 6 ohms which means it won't drive 4 ohm loads.

No, I haven't tried the commercial free service. I either watch live programming which has commercials or I DVR shows and blow through the commercials.
