How are the Sopra 1s different to the standmounted Diablos?

Paul, I stopped by to hear the Sopra 1's three times, they're amazing. I liked them better than the Sopra 2's.

I owned the Diablos for over a year. If Mike gets a pair set up, I'll give a listen to them and compare. The Diablos were fantastic, other than the lowest octave of course. I didn't have a great subwoofer that would blend very well then. That has changed now, with some of the JL, REL, Martin Logan, and other subs. My room was also too big for them as well. I'm sure they would perform even better in a smaller room.

The new technologies and the wave guide in the Sopra 1's produce a very coherent speaker and a competitive price.

I'd not a gambler but I'd be willing to bet that the Diablo Utopia will have a redesign coming within a year to incorporate some of the new engineering that Focal put into the Sopra line.

Why would they tinker with perfection? :D

Paul,
The Totem Element Metal's were great speakers, but I felt the synergy with my Pass XA60.5's was not as good as with my previous Bryston amps.
I have always had a fondness for stand mount speakers, so I thought I would give the Diablo's a try. I am extremely pleased with their performance.
I find there are a lot of similarities between the two, but by adding the REL S/2's, I find I have better control over the lower frequencies than I did with
the Totem's.

Dan, the picture really doesn't do her justice, she was much prettier in person. And very sweet and friendly.

No complaint on that picture mind you!
I guess I will have to see for myself, another good reason to go to RMAF next year. That's assuming she's still there. :D
