Mike, interesting review. What does this mean? "the Kronos philosophy is to install its platform only on solid, non-articulated stands"
-
Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
Kronos is pretty much my dream TT, but counterrotational platters arent entirely new. 47 Labs created one years ago, although a considerably different implementation. It's pretty weird looking:

Keith , I think the Kronos first production was like more than 5 years ago if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry Mike. I am positive the Kronos is a wonderful turntable, however Greg Weaver is not someone I would put any confidence in.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more . Ridiculous review, the only salient fact being this statement : "After living with my Redpoint Model D for seven years, and having steadfastly held off all other comers in its price range and above, I have traded in my Redpoint and now own the Kronos Sparta and Helena tonearm as my reference analog system."
If your point of reference is the Redpoint, I'm sure everything sounds wonderfully impressive . The hyperbole in various categorical statements he makes leaves me credulous. I mean ....Really? So we are to presume that Thomas Woznick, Helmut Brinkmann , Franc Kuzma and their peer group have just been sitting around whistling dixie while these revelations unfolded in a Montreal suburb?
I own the Kronos Pro and I consider it a wonderful table but improvements and enhancements at this level are marginal, nuanced and may / may not be what the listener is looking for . I hate these Holy Grail reviews , they just accelerate the reputational diminishment of the industry.
Love these early morning rants.....

This question has come up before. Here is Louis response:
'The concept of twin platters in counter-rotation isn’t exactly new – the 4724 Koma turntable offered by 47 Laboratory sports this. However, Desjardins is quick to point out that his design offers the additional benefit of a suspended design, which he believes has superior isolation properties than any non-suspended design
“There are two kinds of turntables in the world. The ones that use counter-rotation. And the other ones.
“We have a patent on a suspended turntable with a dynamic stabiliser using counter-rotation. We are the only one.”'

Fair enough, but the flip side is that there are a plethora of other Sparta reviews and Kronos Limited/Pro reviews you can read now.

The official launch of Kronos was CES 2012. Louis had a prototype on display at the Montreal show in 2011, but CES 2012 was the official world launch.
I was a believer from that first show.

My guess (and I will find out for sure) is that Louis recommends against isolation devices underneath his turntable.

I owned a Kronos LONG before I was a dealer. Make what you want out of that assessment.

An even more serious condition Mike , you need to take that Cognitive Dissonance out for a test drive ....:P

I've heard and owned my fair share of good tables. I like what I like. If you're so down on Kronos and believe others are better, why did you have such a turntable fire sale after you got the Kronos? [emoji14]
Admit it, you hate that I'm right. It's killing you! LOL. King Kronos blew up your stable of tables.
And I will add this: after Munich, any final doubters will gone.

Now now Micheal, your fangs are showing . Parsing my comments carefully would help - where was I "down" on Kronos - because I asked for objectivity on the part of the reviewer (and apparently, now the Dealer too) ? I seem to recall saying it was a wonderful table. Turntable fire sale? You have apparently forgotten I had 7 turntables...... And as far as "Right" is concerned, I do envy you your certainty in such an amorphous zone , more power to ya! :yahoo1:

Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
My name is spelled "Michael", but accuracy apparently is not required here.
You want an objective review - here you go:

But I'm sure all the doubters will find some flaw in Dato' Danon Han's review too. Sigh...

Abject apologies ....for the spelling error , I don't use spell check. Anyway, something Emerson said about a "Foolish consistency..." seems to spring to mind but it's worth pointing out that insofar as a Review is an "Opinion" it cannot by definition , be "Objective" . These are not objective truths being debated here Michael ....Michael.....Michael....:)

Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
Shodhan, are you selling your Kronos Pro anytime soon? [emoji7]
The proof is in the pudding. It's ok, acceptance is the first step toward change.
There are lots of other great tables. Lots. If I didn't own a Kronos, I would own a Brinkman. That tube PSU is total audio porn.
But in my OPINION, the Kronos Pro/Limited sounds the best. There are many others who would agree - and just as many I suspect who would disagree. That's what makes this hobby interesting.

You need too get over your obsession with what I own & what I'm selling - I'm an investment manager , I have zero allegiance to anything tangible. Nope, not selling my Kronos , or my Master Innovation, Kuzma XL4 or my Raven Black Knight or Brinkmann Balance (yes with the Ront PS) ....for now. Not sure what that signifies to others , I don't get my exercise jumping to conclusions. Happy listening one & all !! Whatever turns your vinyl ....

Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
No obsession at all....frankly don't care, but your fire sale post Kronos purchase did provide a good chuckle.
Enjoy your day. Happy spinning.

Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
Great review of the Kronos Pro in Mono & Stereo. Look at the other two fine tables it is being compared to:
http://www.audioshark.org/attachment...id=14886&stc=1
Vinyl plays second fiddle to my listening habits today. I'm in the digital playpen at the moment. But the Kronos looks like a great analog path to take.

Of course. There are lots of great tables. At the end of the day, pick one that fits your ear, your eye and most importantly, your budget and spin away. That's all that matters.

Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
Paul, how is your dedicated room coming along?
I'm seeing fewer and fewer TBD's in your signature.
-
Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
Hi Le Roy,
Nyal at Acoustic Frontiers finished the design and has PO's for the KNC and RPG isolation and treatment stuff. Contractor is picked but waiting on deliveries. Down to arms and carts for my last selections.....
Thanks for asking.

Re: The Absolute Sound Reviews the Kronos
Paul, I'm happy to hear it. Sounds like you are in the home stretch. I don't think I've met anyone who has been as careful or deliberate as you have been with your selections.
So now I'll try to pin you down. :)
Are you shooting for Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th for completion? What are your thoughts?

This is one of the best reviews of a Russian helicopter that I have ever read. :D

To clarify, are you talking 2016?
