So, DeVille classifies ten thousand bucks for a standmount as....affordable?
Hmmm....gives one pause.

Especially compared to the other OMA offerings. I’d love to hear them but it definitely seems like a lot. :(

So how much would an affordable full loom of Shunyata cables sell for?

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
From my perspective, OMA seems to have a great reputation for sound and build quality. I don’t have any experience with them but coveted their gear from afar.

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
IMO you will need a dedicated listening room or a very tolerant SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) prerequisite for these.
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
I absolutely would love to hear these speakers. Especially with my First Watt or a sweet tube amp. OMG.

My SWMBO won’t allow my audio equipment to be anywhere above basement level. Above ground level, all speakers must be built into the walls and components hidden. Thanks goodness I have a very large basement with three listening rooms or areas.

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
heard these are going up in price quite a bit - like double.
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
I certainly hope not. I’d consider at the current price, any more and there’s probably a lot more choices out there.

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Anyone else get a listen to these?
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Pricing just went up $3K this morning. Ugh!
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Yep. That’s the way it goes.
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Just another speaker that may sound good but its guaranteed to have zero resale value. Its Marketing and recognition that sells speakers, performance is secondary.
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
I’ve a dealer close within a couple hours drive that I have yet to visit. I think they are worth an audition for the curious cat. They even have the electronics that I prefer too, so who knows. I might come home with an upgrade to my amp😝
But I hear yah on resale. That’s such a an unfortunate factor in some of these hifi pieces. Totally get it. 😬

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Unfortunately the price of wood has skyrocketed - e.g. Soaring lumber prices add $36,000 to the cost of a new home It's going to impact more than one brand of speaker. Also note in the article "The price of copper also set a record high this month and is 27% year to date."

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Energy, commodities, raw materials and food (among other things) prices are skyrocketing in the US. However, there is no inflation. Fasten your seatbelts!

Well - this is several years old but ... Artsy Desktop Speakers Made of Newsprint and Dryer Lint - Electronic House "You’re earthy friend will love them too, as they are specially made with recycled newsprint and dryer lint." So at least you've got some of the materials for a new pair of speakers.

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Liked it so much the audio addict in me immediately enquired about the upgraded SQ version (but, beyond "more better", no clear indication of how it improves on the base model and no return policy on the SQ). The stand is the opposite of a Sound Anchor -- surprisingly lightweight. Clever base design allows more than adequate oomph from the bass port in the bottom. Plays all my preferred genres brilliantly. Compared to the AGs, much more forgiving on the scuzzy lo-fi/indie/alt rock as well as more coherent on the orchestral. They're horns, so of course they do jazz. On something like Holly Cole's recent Qobuz release, Montreal (Live), the AGs really prove their mettle -- just night and day how much more present she sounds with the AGs compared to the Fleetwoods. Some of it could be room (the two rooms sound very different whether or not music is playing), could be ancillaries (the AG's get the superior sources), but I listen to very little jazz vocal anyway ... (actually, tend to prefer vocals like Thom Yorke or early REM that are more sound than lyric -- guess I prefer music to message). But considering the price delta, the Fleetwoods' ability to play nice with all genres, and the fact I can carry them anywhere in the house (or out to the car to take to someone else's house) they're pretty amazing.

Hi Parker,
Did you actually purchase a pair or just demoed them. I’d love to hear a pair but the last thing I need is more speakers.
Is the system in the photo yours or the place where you heard them?

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
I think they are a very cool looking speaker, and I am sure they must sound very good. However for, what is it currently, $13,000. There are a whole lot of good speaker choices in that range.
-
Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Purchased before price increase. Have to purchase to demo -- they don't have demo pairs -- then have a couple weeks to decide whether to send back.
Yes, there's tons of competition. Just in terms of speakers I'm thoroughly familiar with, a used pair of Salon2's, IME, are superior in most respects. But a Salon2 weighs as much as I do and needs amps to match ... as I age I really want to get away from gear I can hurt myself with ...
VERY big sound for their size, amp-friendly, portable, in-home trial -- lots to like.

Parker,
Thank you so much! Enjoy the Devilles should you decide to keep them.

The return boat sailed a few weeks ago -- these are staying.

Awesome.
My Avantgarde are gone for a variety of reasons. Concerned about packing them up and going. Mom isn’t getting any younger and I’m taking care of her. Plus, my room is a little bit too small for the Duos. The new owner has a giant space for them and without too much tweaking were infinitely better in his room. Lucky guy.

Parker,
I forgot to ask what amp you are using with the Fleetwood Deville speakers?
Thanks!

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Joe -- As Low said, the m900u. Will probably put the VIVA on it before long -- OMA says 8W is kind of the minimum, but as Mike has pointed out the VIVA's 8W are strong with the Force.
Sorry to see you and the AGs are going separate ways -- saw the sig change and was curious. Out of curiosity I tried the Mezzos in the 14x19 room pictured with the Deville's and it was enjoyable, but hardly ideal and felt a little claustrophobic. Space is the place with the AGs. Wish I had the back and the transpo to get them to the 23x35 room in my mountain place.

Thank you so much Parker.
I had fun, time to move on. Enjoy the Fleetwood, I’m so happy for you.

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
The more I look at these Fleetwood Deville speakers, the more I like what I see (and hopefully hear). I hope to demo them in a couple of weeks. I’ve since found out that a couple of friends of mine ordered a pair.

Re: The DeVille loudspeaker - Fleetwood Sound Co. FSC is a division of Oswalds Mill Audio OMA
Sound great with the VIVA 300B. Haven't tried the SIT3 yet.

They don’t become the flavor of the month without at the very least, sounding pretty good. Hoping to get a demo soon as well

If that question was me, then no not mine. Just making peanut gallery observations. But would like to hear more about this speaker too. :)

I’m absolutely loving them. A little laid back, perfect for my taste. Very 3D, big soundstage. So easy to listen to. Absolutely wonderful.
