Wow, congrats Mike! The build quality looks phenomenal. Please let us know how it sounds once it’s broken in.

Beautiful equipment Mike. I really like their design.

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
I thought Boulder was clinical sounding.
What made you pick up this line?

I think the older stuff had a different sound. The new 1160, 2160 is anything but that. The build quality is second to none. The company has been amazing to deal with. Love dealing direct with a first class U.S. manufacturer. They’ve given me all of Florida. No other Bolder dealers.

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
I recently auditioned the 866 Integrated - quite a new one too. It was almost warm in its presentation. It was smooth textural and had loads of power. I was very impressed - as i too recall the older Boulder sound that was a little clinical.
Additionally i was at a friends house who has some 3000 components hooked up to M Projects........ fabulous sound

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Looking at the gear you hold and sell, one can only say respect and bow down - no more no less...hope someday to have a chance to visit your store.

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Congrats Mike! Awesome product!

Boulder Boner!
The integrated looks much better in your photos and I hear good things about it, and it’s not a crazy price IMO

I’m spending the morning listening and making more notes. Right now just listening to the 1110 and 2160.
This amp is class A all the way.

Yes, maybe the 101’s. The Xtremes need four amps or two stereo amps.

Also, I am really impressed with what I call my baby Boulder 508 phono amp - no options, fully balanced -$5K

Yes, they say it’s so popular and they can’t keep up. About a 4-6 week wait. The new integrated too.
I will tell you guys, this 2160/1110 is absolutely incredible. Here are my thoughts so far:
1. Ridiculous sound staging.
2. Acoustic instruments are Renderer in a three dimensional beautiful manner.
3. Top end is smooth.
4. Bass is powerful
5. Wonderful decay on instruments
6. This amp DOES NOT sound at all like solid state. It’s beautiful class A all the way.
7. This amp is so musically engaging. It's hard to explain just how musical this amp is.
8. Dynamic. This amp is snappy. Toe tapping.
9. This amp creates a soundscape that puts you in the front row with the music just surrounding you.
10. Wonderful bass control
11. This amp out D'ags the D'ag.
12. Instruments just hang in the air

Yowza!
Congrats Mike!
I've never seriously looked at the specs before.
Monster amps indeed!
If you tell me that they can be brutal and subtle at the same time, they must be winners.

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Great gear. You'll do very well with it. Once again, a phenomenal match with Magico. I've heard it a few times at Goodwin's. Are you dropping any lines to make room???

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Hi Mike,
As I know you are a VAC dealer, I am curious to hear how you like pairing the VAC pre-amps with the Boulder amps. In my system I use a VAC Statement Preamp paired with Boulder 2160 driving Focal Stella EVO. I find this combination to be pure magic, the VAC front end pairs incredibly well with the muscle of the boulder pure class A.

Good for you Mike!
One of the few amps that I've thought that sounded good at the last few shows I've been to.
Congrats!

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Suncoast Audio is officially the heaviest hitter of high end audio. Constantly redefining itself to continue to thrive in this tough business.
M3s getting air time with Boulder combo, Mike?

Thanks for the kind comments. I work very hard to curate the best audio products from around the globe and Boulder and Magico are definitely tops!
The M3’s were sold just recently. I had them for four years! I have M2’s, A3’s, A5’s (coming), S3 Mk2, etc. But yes, M2’s will definitely be getting a test on the big Boulder.

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Mike. I was wondering, what's the MSRP of the 1160?
I heard this amp paired with the S7's and the M3's and was mightily impressed.

It’s $28,000. I’ve been thinking how incredible that amp would be with S7’s myself.

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
How does it compare with Mephisto? They both are class A SS amps. Curious to know the difference between them.

Not really. The massive heat sinks do a pretty good job. The amp has been on and playing since day one and it’s warm to the touch.

Boulder on some models use to have a thermal cutout circuit that would mute the amplifier when the transistor cases reach 85°C - 185F. They had a red indicator light come on when this happened. Not sure if this is still a fact though ....

Re: Boulder arrives at Suncoast Audio
Very cool Mike! I didn’t see them in the store yesterday. My focus was on the Extremes.
I really like the sculpture and chiseled look of the new Boulders.

I can offer my room and 101s to test the Boulders with MBL! :exciting:

I’m trying to figure out how to restrain myself. I’m very happy with D’Agostino, real happy until I see Boulder.
Boulder at RMAF last year had a fantastic room!
Restrain Ed, restrain.
