AudioQuest Fog Lifters
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4e7f105374.jpg
For four decades, AudioQuest has stated as clearly as possible, that pretty much all audio improvements come from reducing “damage”—either by preserving the original information or by not adding misinformation. AudioQuest’s new Fog Lifters work so well because of how effectively they address a significant source of misinformation—Radio-Frequency Noise coupled from the floor into audio and AC cables.

Further informationWrite Review
A carpet or wood floor, not to mention a concrete floor, might not at first seem like a source of RF Noise, but infact RF energy is all around us and always wants to go wherever it can find a lower energy state.
Think of lightning or static electricity, especially in winter. You don’t think of yourself as an energy source, but dry heated air can make it painfully obvious that there’s an energy differential between you and the things you touch. That’s not an exact analogy, but very close.
Fog Lifters significantly reduce RF coupling, whether with the floor, or due to misdirected efforts to isolate cable with stands or clamps that themselves have too much mass and are sources of RF Noise.
A few inches or centimeters might not seem important, but as with light coming from a bulb, the energy falls off exponentially. A few inches or centimeters makes a big difference—which translates into a lower noise-floor and less compromise to, and distortion in, attached active circuits
If you’re thinking “my cables are shielded, so there is no noise problem,” you’re partially correct—but at the high frequencies we’re bathed in thanks to cellular, Wi-Fi, etc., conventional shielding does not stop RF Noise from being capacitively coupled into signal-carrying conductors—not to mention that the shield itself is drained to a ground plane, which is in a sense as sensitive as the signal because “signal” is the difference between signal and ground.

I’ve been using 4 Cardas Myrtle wood blocks and have been thinking of replacing them. Can these be sold in smaller quantities?

I’ll split a pack with you.

Sounds good Mike. Should I call or will you send me a private message?

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
Seem very reasonably priced. If they work, probably a bargain considering today’s high end audio prices for anything/everything.

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
Perfect for the new 'Star Wars' movie, as they are both from the same alternate universe. But in this universe, the only thing the lifters do is waste your money.

LOL. Do cables matter?
All kidding aside, I find they do work well on carpeted floors.
I also like the Furutech NCF Booster for behind the rack.

Shunyata makes the Dark Field Elevators which are quite good as well. https://shunyata.com/products/access...able-elevator/
There are also some honker ceramic ones I’ve seen as well.
But people need to try for themselves. I find they work. More of the freaking voodoo (like fuses) I don’t understand, but do hear.

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
Received the four "Fog lifters" from Mike today. They are a little taller than I expected. But, the good news is that there is no fog in my neighborhood today. Thanks again Mike for splitting up an eight pack.

Some companies think of everything when they design a product.

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
Also received my box with fog lifters yesterday. Nice design and for the money a no-brainer.

For the money great design.

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
It is not enough to lift the cables from the floor. They should be very fixed, as fixed as possible. Therefore, these accessories cannot be fully effective.

Really? How do you go about obtaining "very fixed" cables? How does that improve the sound?

Me and my big mouth. :DThis was top secret! Only for believers.
You can improvise, something like this...

... and what remains of the fog disappears.

What kind of fog did you have that has now disappeared?

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
I've loved this hobby for nearly 50 years but products like this are a bridge too far, even for me.
-
Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
I'm not saying these have lifted my system to another level. They are as they appear. They lift my cables from my floor. Much of this hobby is aesthetics and how it makes one feel about a system. This to me is just a inexpensive touch and care item to my system.
And most of the fog these days is in my head! :)

Well at least it would stop them from vibrating.
With the cable lifters, the cables act just like guitar strings.
And those cable lifters act just like static electricity collectors.
Static electricity loves high resistance insulator standoffs.

I can´t really tell you. You must try.
Mike gave you an idea

SpeedSkater, from what i read from you, i think we are in opposite sides in audio.
I don´t know if you´re serious but what you´re saying is my point.
The difference will more evident depending the weight of the lifters and the weight and the geometry of the cable(s) and their damping factor.

Ok, I'll bite, tell me how the weight of the lifters are going to effect sound ?????

I see you are a little impatient!
Well, if you really think about eliminating vibrations, you will certainly agree that mass/weight is a very important factor.
A friend of mine, from experience to experience, arrived at some home made lifters, in granite. There are two pieces that fit and tighten the cables in the middle, and which according to him guarantee not only the elevation of the floor but also a good compression, ensuring that the cables do not "move" at all, again according to him with audible effects in the cleanliness of the sound.
Vibrations are one of the most important factors in audio.

WOW, I've got it, the fog has lifted, time to set sail ...............

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
I don't have AQ fog lifters, but do have Russ Andrews Cable Elevators. If you have wood floors the RA can be screwed into it. This said, they do absolutely nothing for the sonic quality of the system. However, aesthetically they match my Quadrasphire racks. I was able to try the Shunyata Cable Lifts and they did seem to make a small difference sonically.

Thanks for all the positive feedback/reactions wrt the AQ fog lifters. I just ordered a 2nd box

Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters
In Audioquest site we can read about Fog Lifters:
“Place an absolute minimum of solid material in direct contact with the cable”
and
“…efforts to isolate cable with stands or clamps that themselves have too much mass and are sources of RF Noises”
So, the question of the mass is there, even if it is the opposite that I claim. Can I?

AudioQuest Fog Lifters
Spock,
That sounds, well.... I guess I need somebody to explain how an inert (wood, plastic, ceramic or rubber) and passive (no electricity) device sitting upon the floor acts on or becomes a source of RF noise, regardless of mass.
Edit: I just read the manufactures description on their website. Not going to discount what they believe but having difficulty understanding capacitive coupling in this sense.

Me too :D:D;)
I think this is not about RF noise interference but about vibrations.

I'm with The Beach Boys on this one... maybe some vibrations are good!:exciting:
