State of the art Speakers with ESS/Mundorf/Other AMT Drivers?
Hi all
Big fan of the Original ESS AMT Dipole Tweeter. Owned the original AMT 1's back when Christ was a carpenter..:D
Curious if anyone knows of designs using the ESS, Mundorf or other AMT drivers that have High and Ultra Performance aspirations? Dipole or otherwise?
Re: State of the art Speakers with ESS/AMT Drivers?
I remember the AMT 1s back in the day - nearly overcome with lust but without the necessary acquisition funds!

I have seen but not heard the latest Monitor Audio speakers have embraced the Heil AMT concept with their own version of the folded ribbon..

Some MA speakers, like many others (Golden Ear, Adam, Wharfedale, etc), do indeed us an "AMT" "tweeter", usually >2.5kHz or so. They are all significantly different from the Heil, which is a true dipole and a mid/tweeter, extending down to below 800hz, no problem.
I have built prototypes with both (MA et al/Heil) types and they are quite different sounding FWIW. Which one prefers of course, depends.
cheers,
AJ
