CJ ET6 SE and ET7 questions
Has anyone heard the ET6se and ET7 preamps? I am thinking about selling my BAT VK51se and buying a new preamp. There are no CJ dealers here in the Twin Cities. I was wondering how they sound and how they compare.
Also, I don't know if it would be a good match for my Pass X250 amp. I would be going from a fully balanced system to single ended. And CJ does not publish their specs such as output impedance. I will have to call CJ to find out.
Other preamps that I am considering are the Atma-Sphere MP3 and a custom Don Sachs tube preamp with all the upgrades.
I tend to like a slightly warmer, darker sound with excellent dynamics, huge sound stage with great air and transparency. It must have good bass slam. Too polite and my Magnepans sound lousy.
Thanks,
Larry

Larry
Have you looked at the Backert Labs preamps. The crew there has been involved in working on CJ gear for years. They have "balanced" outputs and can work with you on appropriate gain much like Don.
Re: CJ ET6 SE and ET7 questions
Does CJ do audio shows? I am planning on going to RMAF this year. I have always been curious about CJ gear and based on reviews of their gear, I think that I would like it. I am curious as to how the new ET6se sounds vs the ET7.
I also like the sound of Luxman but I have not heard their newer preamps and amps. There are also no dealers in town.
Jack, thanks for the tip on Backert Labs. I am somewhat familiar with the brand but haven't heard their gear.
Here in the Twin Cities, I am pretty much stuck with ARC, Atma-Sphere, Mac, Electrocompaniet and Bel Canto. ARC, Atma-Sphere and Bel Canto are made here in town as is Magnepan, Van Alstine, Anti-cables and Exogal gear.

Conrad-Johnson replies...
"We may be attending the RMAF with my dealer AUDIOARTS , NYC , representing ZELLATON speakers".
Mechnutt, I have a PM for you from C-J... I'll send it along as soon as I figure out how.

It looks like CJ pushes Audioarts very hard. They always recommend them above all others. Hmmmm.

Gideon is one of their best dealers and cj just purchased a pair of the Zellaton speakers that Gideon distributes in the US. Nothing nefarious.

Thank you Myles.
I'd love to get your thoughts on the new ART 27A amp. Looks like it could be a great piece.

I’d need different speakers. But stay tuned for a honey of an integrated amp that I’m reviewing. ;)

Looks like CJ will have some presence at AXPONA next month - Room 1515.
