Apologies for the brief interruption
Apologies for the brief interruption. We had to upgrade to a higher Enterprise class server and install an SSL certificate on a dedicated IP. The servers across the world should be finished propagating now.
Back to our regular scheduled programming.

No apologies needed captain Mike. Thanks for keeping the ship sailing.

It means me spending more money! LOL. It’s all good. They’ve been pestering me to upgrade for a few months. 1.2 million hits a month and a lot of storage for pictures, means it was time to move up! Plus, the SSL certificate was needed once Google decided if you didn’t have one, your site would show up as unsecure (even though it wasn’t). Can you say cash grab?

+1 ... the whole https thing is such a scam.

Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Mike,
Since you have already gone through the effort of installing certificates to make the website more secure, can you ask the provider to redirect users from non-secure to secure automatically.
I am not sure if it is just me but when you go to https://www.audioshark.org website, the site formatting is screwed up. I tried it with both Chrome and Firefox on Windows 10.
-
Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Clear your browser cache and reboot. Let me know.

Sorry, but I will have to disagree with you here :D. I know the content on the AS is not critical and sensitive but other websites do contain sensitive information. For me at least the username and password needs to be sent in secure fashion.

Did that and the only way that I can get the website to display correctly is to say allow scripts to run from non-https site under Chrome and under IE it basically said load all contents regardless of mixed contents. I have not tried to figure out Firefox yet. I started with https://www.audioshark.org and said allow scripts to run from non secure site and when I reply to the message the site is no longer https and says "Not Secure"

I also run Chrome (Version 70.0.3538.102) and am similarly seeing "Not secure" displayed in the address bar, but the site is otherwise properly displayed and fully functional. If I try to access the https link provided above the displayed page is a completely unformatted list of links. :weird:
-
Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Yep, the unformatted website is what I get when go to the https website. Tried it from 2 different Win10 system. I will try it from a mac tomorrow and safari.

Please, can you explain this to me?

Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Here is a perfect example of why it's better to use https.
https://arstechnica.com/information-...vels-to-china/
@Mike, not trying to make trouble but since you already payed for the secure setup, i wanted to provide feedback that formatting is broken when trying to use secure website.
-
Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Just tried it with a Mac and Safari. I am getting website which is not properly formatted.
-
Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
I just accessed https://www.audioshark.org/ using the latest version of FF, and still get the unsecure site indicator as well as an unformatted page of links...

Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Well for the first time EVER since I have been a member, and using FireFox forever, this morning when I access the site I get this view, I have changed nothing on my end, Chrome works ok.
Welcome to the AudioShark Forums.

Welcome to the AudioShark Forums.
Clear your Browsers cache, make sure you’re running the latest version of your browser. Try again.

Just tried that, didn't fix it, did a complete refresh of Firefox, didn't work, I do have the latest browser load, which has been loaded for a while, like I noted this worked great yesterday. Ideas ?
Mike I just went ahead deleted Audioshark all together and reloaded loaded the bookmark. Its working like it was.

Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
OK, the site has the full SSL installed now and redirecting to the right https URL. There was some backend work that needed to be completed. Just finished this work this morning.
We should be good to go now.
-
Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Happy to confirm that the https site is now successfully loading and is properly displayed in Chrome! :) Thanks Mike!

Re: Apologies for the brief interruption
Mike was does this mean when I try to add my user name and password
Invalid Redirect URL (http://www.audioshark.org/) ps, it doesn't happen al the time. So odd. But hey, its working.

Working well for me also. One suggestion, check if the provider can redirect users who try to connect to http://www.audioshark.org to https://www.audioshark.org. Based on my experience it should be doable but I do not know your the providers setup.
Thanks Mike, for making the site more secure.

Clear the browser cache, Check, tried again, Check, result, on my first log in attempt I get insure message at the password field, plus that Invalid Redirect message from your site, but on my second user ID and password attempt without leaving your site, it all works fine, no message about insure or the redirect message. Its like that every time I log out and login.

But like I noted, without leaving the page, I can login without any error messages. Also I have delete the bookmark and re added your site and its does the same thing, Rather odd . If its my machine, darn if I know whats going on, as it should fail every time. PS; it happens with Chrome to. Same key strokes

@ the left, inside the URL address box, do you have a small green padlock logo?
Me I have a small circle with the letter "i" inside, and when I click on it (I'm using my tablet right now and Google Chrome browser) I got this:
https://i.stack.imgur.com/SgfiR.png
But that is still better than previously when it was saying "Not secure"

Ok, when I spin some albums (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, ...) all is secure now. :)
But if I don't spin any albums I'd better clear my cache. :ninja:
I like to see a little green padlock on my tablet/phone, or a black one on my laptop/PC.
It's not that important anyway in my life; but I do thank Mike for his gentle touch of consideration and good humor.
