Shindo has gone the way of it's founder. RIP.
[emoji23] Seems so! Maybe it means that every one is off enjoying their gear and feels no need to participate? Where are the new users, though? We don’t hear from anyone coming into the brand. Very quiet! I miss the old days...Somewhat. Maybe they just need a big new product release to get attention going. Maybe they don’t even care that there is no activity or publicity and the brand can stand on its own in the dark?

I'd like to hear the new Cortese and Monbrison.
I really enjoyed my time with the Cortese, Monbrison and Tannoy Canterbury
I’m personally down to just my Shindo phono pre and a Mr. T (not counting the vintage Model 77 which only works as a paperweight). The new Monbrison does sound interesting. As usual, an entertaining write up by Art Dudley. I’d love to try the 300b Cortese as well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...48baddf725.jpg

I assume this is a joke. I hope it is a joke.
The new monbrison and the new cortese are f*cking amazing. If you read the mag put out by part time audiophile you will see a whole shindo review. Trip to pitch perfect.
What I have found as a shindo owner is I am super happy with my system and I have lost interest in the gear. It is all about enjoying the amazing system I have in place.
Hey Cucumber! Good to hear from you! I just read the review of the new Monbrison (I dropped my Stereophile sub about a year ago...I’m a bit behind). I’m totally curious to hear of your impressions of the new one vs other Shindo preamps you’ve heard. Also, when you say the new Corstese is great, is that the 300b Cortese or the redesigned original? I haven’t heard boo from anyone about the 300b and I’m dying of curiosity. Me and the Shindo fellas don’t talk as much since I sold my speakers when I moved, so I haven’t heard from them. I don’t even know if the 300b is in the US.

It was not the 300b.
Did you read the write up by Rafe in the occasional?

We went to Cali to visit Jonathan and Matt. The system in Matt's shop was amazing. The new Monbrison was terrific.

I think I flipped past that on IG a while back. Also heard from JH after someone alerted him to the thread. Sounds like Shindo is as strong as ever. Shindo users are apparently simply not the forum type.

True, this is the first time I have been here in ages. To busy enjoying music.

I've been enjoying my Shindo as well. I did read a nice article from Rafe Arnott that was posted on PPA's website. I too am interested in the new 300b Cortese, but even more by the A23 LM755 speaker he references.

The PTA article is all about the spirit of the genius of Shindo gear. Whoooo, the sound is so amazing.
Every Twitter user could have written such statements. The only thing interesting beside this woodoo is that both Halpern and Rotunda seem to be buddies who life their passion for old Porsches. The higher the pricing, the more exclusive the consumer must be. And anyone here wonders why such a wealthy group of people isnt participating in online forums? Come on, those are the people who doesnt fiddle around systems which costs thousands and thousands of dollars. Quality time is very precious and for them, obviously too precious to be wasted in forums just with amateurs.
Heres this mediocre sounding Line Magnetic speaker. Not much difference to a good tube radio speaker it seems. But for sure $$$$$$ to feed Halperns Porsche.

I don't know what your link is... seems like sort of spam.
What I do know is you seem to be some sort of asshole. Not sure why. Maybe you have deep rooted psychological issues in your past.
The author. The article is a gem of a guy who wanted I Believe to write a piece about the people behind the passion. Seems reasonable to me.
Your bullshit attitude however seems totally unreasonable.

you should recognize them in their (re)actions.
Thats my reply to your words.
I made my point with facts. You are just able to personally depreciate other people.
Is this here the friendliest forum on the internet???? Dont think so.
The only fact is see is you act like a prick.

To become personal insulting, as you act, I can call you a fascist. Because you wont accept different opinions which are the basis of any internet forum together with the right for free speech. And you have become personal insulting and try to kill different opinions. Thats the method of fascists. So your behaviour have prooven you are a real fascist acting as a Shindo fanboy on this forum. No real discussion possible about the points of the PTA article which I criticised.
Personal insults, foul language and these attacks HAVE to stop.
There are s
I have been enjoying my Shindo gear for 5 years now and never had any urge to switch to anything else. First time in my life I am still as enamoured with the sound as I was when I first discovered Shindo. More so in fact!! I haven’ been on this forum for years and was reminded of it as someone sent me a question about my amps. Without a doubt the most musical high end gear I have ever owned (and I have owned a lot of good gear). To the ‘HATERS’ out there, get a life!! Us Shindo owners are music lovers first, gear traders and forum junkies last.
So happy for you J.J., thank you for the update. I’d love to hear Shindo on my Duos. Mike and Paul still talk about Shindo gear they have owned or heard. Still at the top of their all time favorite systems. Maybe I’ll finally look into a demo.
Joe....
I just sold my Shindo Corton Charlemagne Q monoblocks. The buyer is in Netherlands and must make the trip to Paris to pick them up.
My guess is that I probably made my biggest mistake by selling those amps.
The reason why I sold them ?
In my main system I can use 2 very different amplifiers. Like Shane.
-300B WE SET monoblocks : a bit faster and transparent and refined than the CCQs.
-Accuphase A65 amp : can stay on all the time, for cats, ambiance music, movies and for music very difficult and needing lots of power and grip. Not as good as the CCQs but more polyvalent and no tubes.
If I had to have only one amp, the CCQs would stay here. They are actually the good compromise between my SS amp and the little 300B SETs.
If you're looking for natural and sweet sound, there are not many brands able to come next to Shindo's level. Their performance is just stellar.

Thank you Jerome. My friend Paul talks so highly about Shindo. He and Mike loved them on his Tannoy Westies. Now with his Duo Mezzo, he’s demoing a lot of different gear. I know he misses his Shindo immensely. I’m looking for musical and sweet, not necessarily transparent. I think my Luxman MQ300 is probably the one, especially with the standard Takatsuki 300b tubes.
Now with my super efficient Duos, I’m excited to experience different SET tube amps. This is all exciting to me.
Congratulations on your Shindo sale.
I'll chime in on this one. Haven't been here for a while. As a long time Shindo owner I really have no interest in learning about other gear any longer. It was a bit of a revolving door for me until I took the Shindo plunge. Always looking to change the sound in my system in some way to please my ears. My life is busy and when I do have time to listen the Shindo gives me the opportunity to just listen to music with out feeling the need to want to change the sound. I take exception to Walters comment that Shindo owners are wealthy professionals with their noses up in the air. I am a blue collar worker that is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy quality audio gear in my free time. Not all Shindo systems are worth hundreds of thousands. I've met quite a few Shindo owners in person and they are as warm and welcoming a group of people as any. Jonathan and Matt are cut from the same cloth. They both have a life long passion for audio that shows in their comittment to their products and their customers. To say they are in it for the money is ridiculous. I will never sell my Shindo. It will some day belong to my children.
By the way, Audioshark is a wonderful forum.
The Cortese 300B and newer Monbrison. Anyone actually heard this combo yet ? I’m very interesting in these particular combo since can’t afford the WE300B mono’s
Paul
Are your speakers JH approved?
Who said this? A four-year-old child could understand this! Run out and find me a four-year-old child.
I’d love to hear them too Paul. I’m sure they are wonderful, actually probably even better than that.
I heard the Cortese (300B) driving Trenner and Fredel speakers, and was was very impressed. It had the PsVane 300B, which is interesting
to me, because I own the Genelex fitted Dy'quem's. That said, not sure if I want to mess with the sound I'm getting right now....
If I didn't own the DyQ's, and was considering a Shindo amp, it would be the Cortese 300B. I've also heard the F2 version sound excellent,
but more recently, it was that sweetie 300B version. Come on back to the dark (green) side Paul, we miss you. Cheers -Don
Paul,
I can only imagine the 300B/Monbrison combo to be what I have only that much better in typical
Shindo fashion, a little bit better in all areas.
Thanks Don. It’s so sad they discounted the D’Yquem. It would be my first choice. Being said that since I never heard the Cortese 300B wondering if they still keeping the Shindo house sound.
How would you compare with your D’Yquem ? Thanks again
P.S : One of my friend selling his D’Yquem so very tempting if you say it’s better than Cortese300b :)
With the return of the WE 300B, it will be easier to get the real sound that you should get with your D'Yquems.
No matter if we talk about the Gold Lion reissue or the PsVane ones, they are both miles away from the Western Electric 300B. Once you hear the WE, you really understand what the 300B is about. Until then, all the others are just a simulacre.
I had to call the maker of my amps when I switched the 300B's GL to WE. I asked him " Did you ever listen to your amps with WE 300B's ? ". He said "no". I replied " then you never heard your amps".
I took my pair to a friend who has huge 300B Set's monoblocks from a famous maker in France. Same result. When we inserted the WE, the sound just came to
life. Comparing these WE tubes with the other makers of 300B's is like trying to make a race between a Fiat 500 and a Ferrari.
I guess that Shindo will offer his new Cortese with WE 300B tubes when they will be available again.

Paul- It's hard for me to compare them to be honest. Speaker is much different than mine...Big Top model Trenner Fredl versus my Valencia 846 A, with Werner XO. Also much bigger/different listening room at the dealers. My gut feeling is go for D'yquem. I know better than to say NEVER in this hobby, but I couldn't fathom selling mine. All I can say is you're a 6.5 hour drive to my house. The door is always open if you're willing to make the trip.
Maybe he will offer with original WE. Thats the way to go. Everything else are different tubes who aim to sound like a real WE but never even come close.
I interpreted that as Takeshi Shindo offering the Cortese with the Western Electric 300B re-issues that are in the works. I've thought that myself if they are on par with the original. I doubt we'll see the Cortese with the NOS WE 300B.
Hope all is going well Don!
Got it... I doubt that too, considering the high price of these. I'm sure the WE's would take me closer. More detailed, holographic, natural.... In the mean time, I think the Parallel SET, as it has been used in the Dy'quem, is quite special. Serves up Nick Drake, to Joni, and then from Led Zeppelin to Sabbath in a very even handed way, and allows me to enjoy just about everything I throw at it. Carlos, hope all is well with you my friend. (-:
Is that possible to swap the 300b tubes on D’Yquem or Cortese 300B to WE ?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I want to say I asked my Shindo dealer about them with AG a long time ago and there was an issue. I'd certainly check in with one first.
I'm sure you could and you'd likely need to re-bias, but I think tube rolling in general with Shindo is questionable. With the WE300b, given that it's reputation being such a superior tube it's hard to believe that anything could sound worse with them. That said, I'm sure if you spoke to the Shindo dealers they would say that the D'Yquem was voiced specifically for the Genelex, the Cortese was voiced specifically with the Psvane.
My understanding is that the Dy'Quem can take Psvane. Biasing necessary of course.
