Hello all i purchased the magtech and rogers preamp yesterday.i get a 30 day in home trial. I was told while the magtech amps are amazing the sander preamp may not be the best bang for my buck. i currently don't have a DAC and was wondering if it would be a good option to get the NAD M12 instead. Any thoughts on what unit would give me the best overall versatility and sound. i would also like a preamp that can do both MM and MC

I see your post on Page 1 of New Posts despite being dated 30 January 2020. Still no reply.

Which did you go for are you still waiting for suggestions from owners? I have the NAD M12 and used to have the Sanders Magtech power amp. The Magtech was only bought because I was planning on upgrading my 17 year old Avantgarde Unos for Martin Logan 13As, but the Unos sounded so much better, I decided to sell the new MLs - and the Magtech.

Back to the M12. I love the way this preamp works and its flexibility. Loads of analogue and digital inputs with even more available if you add a module. All balanced and with a BluOS board available if you need streaming of Qobuz, Tidal, etc. The module is Roon Ready and MQA is supported. Sounds and looks great too.

Remember years ago thinking about a magtech for my logans . never got round to trying one

personally i prefer separate dacs to amps , i think it gives far more versatility . you can change your dac and upgrade it . naim took out dacs from thier amps . keep it simple

Only because they found that most people prefered EVERYTHING in one box, hence their successful all-in-ones - streamer, DAC, pre, power and even RC, plus of course the huge saving in cables - a horrid necessity of separates that NEVER improve the sound. They still offer separates but I'm sure these now represent a small proportion of their sales.

I loved the Sanders Magtech power amp but didn't like the Sanders pre-amp much at all. To my ears the combination was sterile and musically uninvolving. YMMV.
