Tried doing a search for information on 100 volt converters to 120 volts but couldnt find anything. I see a lot of interesting stuff in Japan with free shipping for sale. Are those $150 converters on amazon all a person needs? Anyone know of a quality converter for sale?

Amazon has any number of transformers that should work, Look for one that has 1500 watts.
Don't need anything fancy. It's just a step up transformer.
Just like the transformers in most of our audio gear.

It shouldn't.
Some power conditioners are/use Isolation transformers.
As long as the transformer is large enough in capacity they generally do not inhibit sound quality.

Absolutely it will impact the sound. Its a whole lot of copper and iron. What do you think many power conditioners are made of. If you purchase a junk transformer, it may sound like junk. It may have very high distortion.
If you get a high quality transformer , it may greatly improve your power. Go to Controlled Power and look around there.

A transformer will do nothing for a unit that was designed for 50 Hertz and your powering it with 60. It may work just fine and see it as extra power. Or it may create issues.

All transformers hum. Your probably going to hear it in your room. A good transformer is around $1,000 for 1 to 2 kVA

I’m getting an industrial transformer going outside my house, a new Eaton CH box and everything audio moving to that completely separate power setup. Not cheap. N

Depends what do you want to buy. Lots of Japaneese gear has dual 100/120V transformers. When you open up Accuphase technical manual for example, it show how to set the transfermer windings for 100/120/240V operation.
