Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
Thought I'd bookmarked a thread with a bunch of recommendations for running a dedicated circuit, specific enough that I'd give it to my electrician. Can't find it. Anyone point me to it?
Maybe I'm over-thinking it. Good quality 10g cable like Armorlite, good outlet, silver or silver-tung breaker, done.
I was thinking of running 2 dedicated circuits to my gear (I have 2 unused breaker slots) - one for amp, one for everything else.Main System

Re: Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
The 10 ga wire is fine and suggested. As far as the 2 unused breakers be sure they are on the same phase.
On my Square D panel that makes the breakers locate across from each other. One on the left side and one on the right side. Your electrician may need to move another load to accommodate this but is is no problem.
When we were renovating our home and I told the electrician I wanted 10 ga wire for all of the outlets. He said that is ridiculous. I told him if I wanted to be able to weld in my room that was my business. He didn't think that was funny at all.Synology 1019D+ - SGC Sonictransporter I9 w Roon/HQ Player- UltraRendu- PBD Stream IF to Playback Designs MPS5 via fiber optic - ARC 40th Anniversary Pre - ARC 610 T's - Martin Logan CLX's - 4 Martin Logan Depth i Subs - Shunyata Hydra, DIY PCOCC interconnects, speaker cables and power cords with Furutech terminations. Re: Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
I have three dedicated 20 amp lines of 10g wire; one for each amp and one for the preamp and Lumin. Each line has a Shunyata AC outlet, and a Shunyata power conditioner on it. Also all gear has a Shunyata power cable. Sounds great.

Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD
Pass XP-22 pre, X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers, SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR for source, Denali 2000 (2) for amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Re: Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
Right now I'm thinking the VH Audio cryo 10g Romex with Furutech outlets, 1 circuit for amp, 1 for everything else.
Not really clear on the ground stuff, or whether the Romex should be run in some kind of conduit (it will be in the attic).Main System

Re: Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
As long as the Romex is installed properly, the conduit would be not necessary.
If you were to run THHN, which is separate #10 wires then you would need conduit. That would be 1 red or black for the power, 1 white for the neutral and 1 green for the ground. How many THHN wires you can group together will be determined by the size of the conduit. The conduit would need to run all the way from your breaker panel to your receptacle boxes in the wall. It becomes more complicated with THHN and conduit.
Is it an unfinished attic space with other wires providing power to other locations in the house? If so properly secured Romex cable runs should be fine.Synology 1019D+ - SGC Sonictransporter I9 w Roon/HQ Player- UltraRendu- PBD Stream IF to Playback Designs MPS5 via fiber optic - ARC 40th Anniversary Pre - ARC 610 T's - Martin Logan CLX's - 4 Martin Logan Depth i Subs - Shunyata Hydra, DIY PCOCC interconnects, speaker cables and power cords with Furutech terminations. Re: Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
I have 4 dedicated 20A circuits using 10/2 Romeo. 1 for each mono blocks, one for the ML speakers, and one for the front end equipment which consist of music server, DAC, and preamp.

Re: Looking for thread on new circuit recommendations
Some time ago, Middle Atlantic wrote a great white paper on AC power:
"Integrating Electronic Equipment and Power into Rack Enclosures"
'Optimized Power Distribution and Grounding for Audio, Video and Electronic System'
Then Middle Atlantic changed and the paper disappeared from their web-page.
But luckily Arthur Kelm at Ground One AV, saved a copy:

Vince at MSB tends to exaggerate a lot.
