Re: PMC IB2i speakers are in my vehicle.

I really like to say HUGE thanks to Jeff a.k.a A/V solutions.

Last week or two I called him to discuss about the purchasing a PMC speakers and he was so busy to set it up his analogue gears. So I left the message with his wife...couple of hours later he called me back and spent ( Yeah it was long distance call too ) nearly almost half hour with me talked about the pros and cons about the PMC IB2i speakers he has. Remind you Jeff knew I can not purchase the speakers from him due to distance!!!!
    - So this was first Thank you

Now today I posted this thread. Jeff....Oh I don't know what to say.....He left the congrats note on this tread but He also sent me the Private Message indicated as changing the jumpers improvements and offer me to send me the jumpers on his side.

Now look carefully . He could simply post that msg here and show off the people but he didn't....I mean he is in business and he can easily to show off and do some social business here and I'm in the sales so I probably do that for sure to get peoples attention for future preference but he didn't ....That really showed how good guy he is...

Jeff....You are the man. Thank you from bottom of my heart .

That mid-range is expensive but it may be the best in the world, certainly the best dome.

Thank you for the post. I've been told this PMC mid driver weight at 22 lbs and took 6 months to make by hand.

Also I was kind of worried about being as power hungry one. As moment I'm break in with my NAD int amp with it which rate as 50 watts and at 8 o'clock position that worry has been erased from my brain.

It does weigh 22 lbs. but it takes 6 months to train someone to build it, not 6 months to build it. Too bad Peter Thomas did not put as much effort into it's appearance, pretty plain looking given the price.

Yeah. Right ! Thanks for the correction.
I always loved the Britain box style speakers ( Harbeth , Spendor and Rogers ) and how they produced the realism in music.

I do agreed they could done better on appearance especially at $22 k price point and also yes you can find lot of better looking speakers at that price range. However I'm not sure they can match the SQ though. IMHO.

Paul the PMC's look great! I like the box-style speakers myself, as long as they don't sound like a box! When they get some more hours on them let us know how they compare to the Harbeths.

WOW!!!! So awesome! Excited for you. I understand the bass comment. I was overwhelmed at first too, but then I realized that I just wasn't used to hearing deep bass. It just is way deeper than anything I've ever owned. But it's not boomy or muddy and it's not out of proportion. Play something that has little bass and you won't hear any from the speakers. It just plays it when it's there. Also, it's best to have as neutral electronics as possible. Congrats. Enjoy that super clean clear mid range. Nothing like it.

Rick ..... Thank you. Hey I did auditioned the Totem Element. You were right . They were good on music as well and I couldn't believe amount of bass they produced. Amazing.

Doug.....I still want to hear the Devore speakers in right place with right gears and I know I will have one someday.

Jax...Thanks again for your help. Yes I wasn't expected this kind of bass...Much much deeper than the Harbeth M40.1 ( which has a bigger driver ) I will update with my impression very soon.

What's the latest, Paul? Maybe play around with speaker placement to moderate the bass? A few bass traps in the cards for you?

PMC IB2i speakers are in my vehicle.

    After 17 hours playing .... Currently I pair them with the Kimber 4TC ( $ 5 / foot ), Sony CDX3 ES CD player( $1,000 ) with the NAD320 BEE int amp ( $399 ) on PMC IB2i speakers ( $22,000 ) so I can't comment other than just impression of their house sounds.

I've been playing few discs over and over again. ( Duke Ellington & Ray Brown : This one's for Blanton , Barney kessel,Shelly Manne & Ray Brown's : Poll Winners Three , Eiji Oue : Exotic Dances from the Opera , Melody Gardot : My one and only thrill )

The Midrange on IB2i's are just wonderful as many of you claimed. it's most neutral, natural, lifelike mid range I ever heard or owned.
Do I prefer over the Harbeth ? I will give that answer when it placed on my audio room with same gears.

The high is already edged the Harbeth big times. The low end is much deeper and tight as well but again this part I would leave it as is till pair them with main gears.

One thing I can clearly tell you .... This is the BEST Melody Gardot's voice I ever heard and I can't wait till pair them with MC275's.

Paul, do you find that each music recording has its own best match (loudspeakers, playback source, preamp, amp, speaker wires, interconnects, AC power cord, tra-la-la)?

And same for each format (different medium: analog LP and tape, or digital CD/SACD and hi-res audio file).

Almost like if you have 5,000 music recordings, for best reproduction from each one of them you roughly need 500 different audio rigs.
    - Do they build houses with 500 music listening rooms? Well, let's not exaggerate, make that only 50 rooms.

You could be right but we never going to find out unless you have 500 listening room with different gears

And same for each format (different medium: analog LP and tape, or digital CD/SACD and hi-res audio file).
My thought is when they record and mastering with AAD ,ADD I would prefer to have on LP or Tape and DDD I would prefer CD/SACD or hi-res auido file.

As speaking of speakers...This is my thought before I pulled the trigger on the PMC IB2i.

As you already know I have a VA the Music and had SF Elipsa , Harbeth M40.1, B&W 801, Totem...etc.

I found it wasn't easy to find a speakers make the human voice right ( neutral, natural, lifelike ) People keep talking about how low it can go on bass and how crisp and airy on high ....but on my thought is if some or any speakers can produce the human's voice perfect every other instruments will just come along. ( by the way I think the human's voice is most beautiful instrument )

The Music speakers is only speakers that can cover the 10 octaves on human's voice and that just made me to purchase the speakers without thinking twice and luckily it does the excellent job on every other parts as well so I guess I'm lucky to have a Music speakers , PMC IB2i and Rogers LS3/5A speakers on my collection.

Also now I understand the reason why the JVC recording studio ( plus hundreds of studio ) uses same speakers as mine and a lot of celebrities ( PMC owners ) as well ( Including Stevie Wonder, Brian May , Robbie Williams....etc) all around the world.

Not surprising. A dome midrange has a much larger voice coil that a cone midrange which renders male and female voice more realistically. Wait until you hook up the MC275 to the IB2i. You will forget you ever owned Harbeth.

If you have a space try to hear the MB2i. That has a better bass driver. I would love to have them but $$$$
