Just a little taste of what to expect in Room F-128 in Munich (where the Allnic Picnic happens). Pic is of the rig in pre-test before it makes its way to the venue.

Those that were lucky to visit the show over the weekend, any impressions? The photos are overwhelming. Thanks to those who've posted them so the rest of us can travel virtually
That is one big show. Wizard's site had an update on the stenheim unveiling. As a Nagra user, stenheim's seem to be paired with nagra more and more at shows. Peter of AVshowrooms had some favourable coverage at CES of the Alumine but there was a ref speaker announced in Munich which has unique adjustability. They were powered by nagra vpa amps which I use. Would love to have heard that system. Did anybody hear it? What about the Verity Nagra system? Pic of newer Alumine photostenheim.JPG

I saw that, too, Chris. I have to say, his description is spot on, both positive and negatives. Gideon has chosen some very fine gear to represent.

Did you see the pics from Leo? They also seemed to be place mid room like Gideon did a year or two back with the Concerts. Wonder if they sound best that way?

Yes, I did spend about an hour in conversation with Jean-Pascal Panchard (Stenheim) as well as listening to the new Reference floorstanders partnered with Nagra (incl. the new DSD-DAC that seems to be something else), Holborne turntable (very interesting table) etc. This system impressed with reference level dynamics and a seamless soundstage being very natural in size for such a large speaker system - not to big (as most planars...), not to small. Next door at the Kempinski showed the Stenheim Alumine 3-way, i.e. the Alumine monitor on top of the optional bass-modules. Associated electronics consisted of Le Son. This room (with a system being within reach for a larger part of the community) sounded - and looked - beautiful.

I will add some photos to our Facebook-page later on from these events!

Thanks Hyperion. Will look for your facebook pics. As a dealer for both Verity and Stenheim, can you comment on the differences when using nagra gear? I'm using Verity Amadis so likely the equivalent would be Alumine 3-way with Stenheim right? Differences in "house" sound, etc.?

    Sorry for the late reply!

The very short version is that I believe Stenheim (Alumine monitor) to be a more neutral and perhaps lightweight speaker in overall character compared to Verity who does add a bit of sweetness and warmth to the presentation. That said, the Stenheims are never harsh or analytical - far from it. Perhaps a Magico with soul - if you like . Detail, transparency and definition without ever being tiresome.

The finish and build quality are at the top of the game from both brands.

    Hope that helps.

Yes I was there Norman. What a great show it was! 3 days seemed not enough to hear everything I wanted. I will schedule it for next year again, please make sure you can go as well.
Very impressive. In multiple session I have heard it all (almost). Most impressive: Cabasse La Sphère, Focal Grande Utopia III with the new super amp from Naim and the Magico Ultimate wit Pass amps.
Most embarrassing: a demo from Octave with Triangle speakers. The first day they had an impressive demo playing an Ingram Washington vinyl record. That sounded really fluid. The next day they did something stupid. They hired a guy, the guy in the red sweater in this picture and he wanted to demo you could play anything on the combo. Well it turned out you cannot! He picked blindly the record James Brown - Living in America from a crate and then played it way too loud. My ears started bleeding! What a shame!

Patio: Bluesound Node 2i and Focal CMS50.
