    NAIM 500 series

I’m contemplating a NAIM 500 series system. But what speakers? Anybody have any favorite pairings with NAIM’s top stuff?

Hi Mike! First of all, congrats on bringing Naim into your stable!
I am a big fan, and have been for many years.
As I have the fortune of enjoying a Statement amp, I have auditioned a number of speakers with it. Harbeth 40.2 was a magical pairing!
Also, Gryphon Pantheons sang wonderfully. I believe you can not go wrong with either.
Which amps do you plan to use?

I did not realise Naim have stopped making speakers. I guess Focal had some say in that.

Thanks, but I’ve been carrying NAIM for the past two years. Right now we have the SN3, Hi-Cap DR, NDX2, XPS DR, Uniti Nova, Uniti Core, among other products in the store. Just thinking about putting together a strong 250/300/500 system and wondering about pairings. Admittedly, the SN3 sounds fabulous with everything in the store.

Kev - Fyne with NAIM is superb. Haven’t found another amp to top it yet (with the Fyne’s).

    Re: NAIM 500 series

I've been a Naim customer since 2011. Looking through the brands you sell (listed in your forum sig.) --

B&W is pretty popular with Brits who own 500-series, esp. the 802 and 803 D3's. I don't think I've ever read any negative comments about the pairing, aside from those who try to drive them with too little amp (such as a Nait 5i).

Im quite happy pairing Magico A3's with my 552/300DR system. I'm guessing that M2's and S3's would be lovely as well, with my 300DR or more so with a 500DR power amp.

Harbeth as the Brits say are Marmite; you either like them or your don't. Focal as well; Marmite.

Something that compliments Naim's emphasis on PRAT is where to start I suppose.

If your customer base supports systems in that price range, and of that design (multiple boxes), I hope that you do get a 500-series system onto your floor! 252 and 552 preamps are 2 boxes each. 300 and 500 power amps are 2 boxes each. The sources as you know either require (ND555) or do best with (NDX2) an external power supply, making them 2 boxes each as well. The customer really has to want to make that 'investment' in floor space and room presence to take that on. But Naim certainly isn't unique in the regard for high end systems.

The Naim 500 series is awesome. I remember comparing the 555 CDP with the DCS Scarlatti stack many eons ago and being floored as to how much better the Naim was.

Mike will you bring in the Statement amps too?

Naim goes well with Magico in my experience but perhaps their extreme pratt might also go well with something slower like Sonus Faber.

I've never heard of anyone wanting to 'slow down' Naim electronics! Some describe some Focal speakers as a bit plodding; no need to stray if you want that experience.
