Re: What are you listening to tonight ?

I was reading some stuff the other night about which Dark Side of the Moon CD version is the best. So I broke out the 20th Anniversary Edition, the Toshiba Japanese pressing and the original MFSL edition. Without question the MFSL edition easily topped the other two. It was warmer overall and the vocals were smoother than the other two. Also, the treble was more defined and it just sounded more musical. I thought it would be a tough task to hear differences between these 3 but it was very easy. I couldn't find the original CD and I don't have the 2011 remaster so this is the best I could do. They all sounded much better with the DSD x256 processing turned on with the "flat" digital filter on my player. Cheers.

    Frank Sinatra’s Reprise Collection.

Someone gave me app 1000 CDs. Some awesome older music - 50s-80s mostly. Lots of jazz and blues and definitely a Santana fan… This collection was part of it. Sounds really good. I like these older discs.

A Moment of Now by Victoria Tolstoy and the specific title song (A Moment of Now) is just awesome. The piano work is amazing. Her voice captivating. I’m on my 4th time thru this one song on CD, not video, but for those who like videos …

Tried hard to like it cause I liked the earlier albums so much. This one is all over the place genre-wise, so much so that I had to go back and hear the Blush EP and My Love is Cool just to remind myself what I considered their sound to actually be.

We were watching the latest season of Bosch on Netflix. There is always great jazz on vinyl playing when he is in his home.

A very relaxing piece called Lullaby by Frank Morgan was wonderful. Maybe 4:00 of piano and sax were wonderful.
I had never listen to Frank Morgan but he will be in my rotation going forward.
