Re: What are you listening to tonight ?

could not find a version of the original release of this album streaming anywhere and ended up purchasing a 16/44.1 download on onkyo music...

ahmad jamal | at the pershing - but not for me -- probably my favorite of his early releases. very nice sparseness and well recorded. contains the career defining performance of poinciana.

well worth the effort to track down a copy of this album, in any format!

New Bob James Trio - Espresso

First trio recording from Bob in years. Joining him is Billy Kilson (fantastic drummer) and Michael Palazzolo on bass. Well recorded CD. Very enjoyable.

just released today... grateful dead | pacific northwest '73-'74: believe it if you need it

a very nice deliberate, methodical laid-back groove in these shows -- see: brown eyed woman. also, maybe the best SQ of dead show recordings i have heard with the exception of reckoning which is the gold standard.

Buddy Guy, "The Blues Is Alive and Well". Just picked up the vinyl and it came with an mp3, so I thought I'd give it a listen. Don't know how many more albums we're going to get from this Blues legend. This one has a lot of very famous performers on it.

Just received the BD a few hrs ago and ripped it . They are certainly evolving with Gavin no question, he adds such a whole new element/dynamic. "White Mist" - great!

The mix/mastering is "different" on this one if that makes sense.

FWIW - this is a region2 BD so plan accordingly

Bill Evans, Jim Hall, "Undercurrent". Thought I'd mention that this MoFi release has a fair amount of rumble in the recording. It is not due to my turntable, nor the vinyl compound itself, as there is none between tracks.

Raw, edgy and innovative, guess that’s why he became the highest paid of his time.

I just love what the BBC did with all the music talent.

If you like the Blues, Marquise Knox. Or, search for Can A Young Man Play the Blues. This album is Knox, Wayne Shorter, and a couple others. If you use Tidal it is high res. A friend told me the albums were recorded at Acoustic Sounds.

gillian welch | boots no 1: the official revival bootleg ...nice collection of alternate / developmental tracks for the revival album.

like the sparse and slower, more methodical vibe here:
