On deck, also just arrived. The UHQR used to be my number one test album back in the day. Hoping this 45 rpm half speed master is as good!

Jesus, listening to this now... wow, it might be better then the DSD download! This Bronze cartridge is amazing to me. The U-Turn definitely let's it shine. Might have to try a black stylus down the road a bit!

It is excellent. That and Tea For The Tillerman, also in UHQR, were my two favorite test albums back in the day. psssst... a really nice (or so I hope) 45 rpm special pressing of Tea For The Tillerman is supposed to be arriving tomorrow...

At Acoustic Sounds, the 45 rpm 200g TFTT is listed as limited stock. So the top version they have is about gone.

DIIV ‎– Deceiver - brand new album. released a few months back This is the 5th time playing it and everything has clicked into place - not as immediate as the first 2 albums, but this shoegaze is sensational. The guitar is a lot heavier and more distorted - luv it.

I originally heard this at RMAF, and Jason with Stereophile made me aware of who she is.

I bought the download of this album, others are on Qobuz and Tidal.

This is reference quality recording, whether digital download, CD or transferred to album.

Buying albums where the native source is digital is somewhat frowned on, but this sounds so good, and not only is she a great musician, but she does so in an environment that includes solid recorders and mixers, Jim Anderson and Bob Ludwig as a master engineer.

Check out what they use to record that includes interconnects and power cables (google the companies when bored);

St. Vincent - MassEducation, an acoustic remake of her excellent Masseduction album!

On deck... half speed mastered, 180g, 45 rpm import of one of the best sounding PCM downloads I have!!!
(I hope it blows me away which is what I am expecting)

It does not disappoint!

If you have never heard to this album you owe it to your ears to listen to it!

Why Mike? It seems to have the same pressing matrix as the standard original US pressing - MASTERDISK RL etc

Unfortunately I do not have an original Aussie pressing, just a later one and the 2003 mastered @ Sterling by George Marino which sounds excellent.

This is one of my faves. I researched this extensively and compared my original pressing to this promo copy. The rumors are true, the Promo copy is superior. I can’t explain it, but that’s why it demands such a high price. I waited literally years to find a clean Promo copy.

Sounds like a Hot Stamper where its at the start of the pressings. Have you heard the George Marino version?

A really yellow new record from Michael Kiwanuka. Liked his previous album better, and I’m not impressed with SQ either.

Frankly speaking, I’m struggling with the current double LP trend: What I’m experiencing is mostly A LOTS of gap fillers. It becomes a drag to listen through four sides of uninspired junk.

Bought these yesterday, giving in to the Stones being mastered from digital.

On line is easy but honestly takes the fun out of it, and it’s good to get out.

Removing the shrink wrap is a challenge at times, now I just use a utility, carefully

Talk about a disappointment. When I opened the box up and started cleaning it (and it was surprisingly dirty) I found that it contained two copies of LP One and no LP Two.

. So waiting for MoFi's response and how they will resolve this

I just got mine yesterday and my version is 2771 out of 7500 - all packed correctly and sounds great, sorry you had to experience a mix up.

Curious on what your version is?

Mine is #2029 I think (my vinyl nut buddy got one in the low 200's; he must have ordered a long while ago). They already replied that they are having their sister company, Music Direct, send me a replacement one for the missing LP-Two. They said don't worry about sending the duplicate LP-One back. Might be a couple weeks though

.

The first disk sounded very nice indeed!
