Re: What are you watching?
When I write from my Ipad I keep it short.
The Olympics, especially the winter ones, show sports that I don’t care about and I am totally bored by. I don’t like ice skating and if you have seen one Luge run you have seen them all, it’s so repetitive. I can’t stand the constant hype on the shows. Even the NBC new shows become solely about the games. NBC takes of the air it’s regular shows and all the other networks show repeats.
I may be less of an American and not patriotic, but I don’t root for Americans because I feel no attachment at all to these players. I do NOT feel we are a better country if our contestants win.
Finally, and something we are loath to discuss is that the Olympic games are corruptly chosen and run and still get some government support. Look at Russia, look at the past games. They are put in country with oppressive human right records. It’s terrible.Barry

Re: What are you watching?
There is good and bad in the Olympics, no doubt about it Barry. ...I could easily write two books about it.
The good is in the young athletes participating for joy, for peace with the rest of the world.
The bad is in the back door deals with the judges to favor this pair of figure skating athletes, even if they aren't the best, and to discredit the truly best.
{Did you hear about the Canadian skating pair, and the Russian's and American's deal behind the scene? ...Right here in Sochi in 2014.}
Yes, human rights are violated all around the world, and every single day! It's up to us to denounce it, or accept it.
...Up to the big shots, because the small shots cannot do anything about it. ...But we are the ones who elect our representatives in them big shot roles, with their big pay cheques.
Anyway, I don't want to talk about the insanity (politics), this is just too sick to watch!

By the way, some people watch a movie only once and that's it, others can watch a movie a dozen times and even more.

Not really. But if one is to watch 'Pacific Rim', 3D is definitely the way to watch it.
The Blu-ray audio (DTS-HD MA 7.1) and the 3D picture quality are both 9.5 out of 10. ...For a truly immersing experience, visually and auditory.
The film itself is kids stuff.
'The Great Gatsby', I liked it. ...And 2D is just fine. That one is worth seeing, from my own personal point of view (age, state-of-mind, wisdom, freedom, etc.).

Re: What are you watching?
I actually had a small disappointment last night that is slowly becoming a big one. Huh?
I saw Monster’s University, the latest Disney/Pixar production. Frankly, I had enjoyed the Pixar movies from the beginning, especially Toy Story and Up, but I liked the other too.
The animation is always improving and is fantastic. But the stories are getting boring and lifeless. It started with “Cars” a remake of Doc Hollywood (Honest! they followed that plot), Cars 2, Brave they are just boring to me.
And so was Monsters University. There was a major flaw in it’s application too. The concept is that they are monsters being taught to scare kids. Yet, Disney monsters have to be lovable and NOT scary to kids or they won’t buy the merchandise.
But, sadly, the trend at Pixar is to produce more and more movies that are for kids only, Without a decent story to get adults through. Bob, how do you feel about the latest movies?download.jpgBarry

Re: What are you watching?
I feel like you Barry; the latest PIXAR flicks I wish I was back to four (a young lovely child).
- The two 'Monsters' flicks aren't really for adults. Only in the first one I like some scenes.
- The three 'Toy Story' are a better (2nd one I prefer).
- The two 'Cars', I like the first, that's it.
- 'Brave' is nice to watch (picture pop), but not for adults.
- 'Wall•E' contains a message, but not for the oil magnates.
- 'UP' is awesome! ...If PIXAR could deliver more of more in that line the world would be a better place for both kids and adults together. I think.
- 'Ratatouille' is my top favorite! ...I would love that one in 3D as well.
- 'The Incredibles' is incredible, I love that one as well.
- The two 'Short Films' - Collection Vol. 1 & 2 - They have few good ones.
- 'A Bug's Life' is not my bag (bug).
- I like some scenes in 'Finding Nemo'.
By the way, I got them all on Blu and @ 3D (the ones avail), for their artistic creativity and all that animated jazz. ...Kids or not.
Yes Barry, you are right; the latest PIXAR animation flicks are losing some of their essence, quintessential creativity.

I always loved animation (Snow White, Fantasia, Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies) but I realize a great deal of it, mostly the cheapest, was made strictly for kids. (Not Fritz the cat)
But I got to take my nieces to The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin and thoroughly enjoyed them. Pixar seems to be remaking the same kind of movie by either doing squeals or stuff like Planes after Cars. Wall-e and Up were so original (Ed Asner as an action adventure hero?) and in Finding Nemo, Ellen DeGeneres was so funny as, as, as, as… I forgot the name of the character she played. But, there will be another sequel next year. But squeals tend here to be redoes with nothing original. (Except Toy Story).Barry

This is a romantic comedy without the romance or the comedy. How can that be? The Premise is that Chris Pines discovers he has always had a sister (Elizabeth Banks). He tracks her down and they go through the stuff you usually see in a Boy meets Girl movie. Except he knows she is his sister and waits 2 hours to tell her. Dull
But Chris Pines ( and Taylor Klitch (John Carter Battlefield) seem to be the annotated to do all these roles, yet fail at the box office because they cant carry a movie. Pines also did the Tom Clancy remake and it kind of sunk, I havent seen it yet. He doesnt lead in Star Trek, that really gets its energy from the new Spock (and the old one!).
What seems to happen is that they get a big role and everyone jumps in their bandwagon until the results from a few movies come it. They ten seem to melt into co-starring roles.Barry

Yes Barry, I also have 'Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves' on Blu. ...And 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' (1938), BD.
And! 'Robin Hood - Men in Tights' (Mel Brooks), also on Blu.

Re: What are you watching?
I'm going to refocus into a new direction. It feels quite lonely on average regarding the things we watch on our screens.
So, I'm going to include the things that I watched off-screen too. ...You know, the pretty ladies in town and at the beach, and stuff like that.
...To kind of resurrect, develop more interaction between more members on things we saw recently.
So that we don't get bored, ever.
Alright, I went to the art gallery this afternoon, and I forgot to bring my camera. ...Bummer!
Last night, I watched a movie (@ 2D) that I could have easily skip all together.
But being who I am, why feel so ashamed about it.
I saw, now time for the next show; in 3D next time. ...In the near future...
* For a moment I thought about taking a break. ...A break from this and a break from that. No sweat, I can live in the shadows forever; it's one of my forte.
And on further thought, instinctively, impulsively, with serious thinking, living in the now and then; I simply decided to type these words. ...To share what I saw and what I thought of it, plus few more things related, more or less.
I could have use different words, and that would/could have reflected differently, from the readers, but not from the viewer; me.
For me it is best to describe in my own chosen words what most accurately represent what I saw, viewed, watched, on-screen and off-screen.
...What the movie (or reality) brought to my intellect. ...Emotionally moving, involving, or disconnecting, detached.
'Thor The Dark World' in 2D left me numb. ...Hollywood comic strips with all that CGI fabrication and all that bombarding sound assault.
If my kid (boy) was between 11 and 15; I would say to him; don't bother. ...But feel free to liberate your own curiosity.
Because after all; it is with all the good and the bad that we can make a more balanced choice in life. ...For ourselves.~ Bob ~

You should ask your dealer to bring the CH stuff he wants to sell you for home audition in your system. IMO there is no way to tell what will sound better in your system.
