    B&W 801D4 review

Thanks Mike, I understand those of us with different sensitivities and budgets to work with and take all personal comments as intended.

    B&W 801D4 review

These days of web searching a 3 year bump isn't all that unusual. I'v been considering trying the 801D4 with my mc611's and the comments on this thread me reconsidering. Are the 611's not up to the task or are the comments more personal in nature? If the 611's can handle the 801d4 and drive them...

    New Perlisten Speakers

The Perlisten S7t are one of those designs that manage great performance without costing as much as a house.

    Any experience with PSB?

The shop that carries PSB near me gets excellent sound from the speakers and makes it difficult to justify spending more.

I REALLY think I am done

The f52 sounded great in my room also, the tweeter didn't have the delicate resolution of the salon 2, but in my system at the time the f52 sounded much better with my middle of the road components.

    Thinking back…

I've probably posted this on every hifi forum i'm on, but my favorite system was the Bose 901vI driven by my realistic STA235b receiver before an audiophile neighbor came over and ruined my appreciation of spontaneous music forever. My list of speakers, amps, integrateds, cd players, dacs and...

looks like you didn't really need any help after all. Congrats

Forums are slow, does that mirror the industry?

how 'bout it, forum activity and stagnant used market sales are obvious to me also. I can say for my part my hifi motivations have always been stirred by my excitement in new music, and there hasn't been very much new music of the genre I enjoy the most. I also think as I venture into more...

    Chops' Current System Pics ....

Mine ran loud enough to have leo knocking on my door way too often and I was using a Realistic sta-235b, 55wpc receiver!

    Chops' Current System Pics ....

Whenever folk post hearing something different than what I'm hearing I chalk it up to conditions.

    Chops' Current System Pics ....

I could tell the top end was rolled off with then 901vI, but bass was so commanding, and like I stated, it did take months to figure the placement out, but bass was so commanding and mids so well blended that had a neighbor hadn't introduced me to 'true hifi' when I was flush I'd probably still...

    Chops' Current System Pics ....

it took some work, but once I hung the 901vI from the ceiling 2' in from the back & side walls the bass was as impressive as most speakers I've had that cost much more.

Does a Hi-Fi mafia exert influence over audiophile discussions?

What speaker measurements tell me is if a company is legit. B&W gets heat from the science crowd, but their products are consistent. If you buy a pair they will measure and sound alike. Another big name BIG dollar brand released a pair to stereophile for review and while the subjective review...

    Handling Heavy Amps

my dealer sells finished tree stumps that are several inches tall and places amps on those on the floor. I use a computer tabletop cut to size with amps safely on those, not as trippy as tree stumps growing out of the carpet, but functional and virtually invisible when looking at the system...
