No, the device provided by the ISP is a modem and a router and most routers have only two ethernet ports. Think of a switch as a type of "power strip" in that it gives you additional ethernet ports in case you have more than two devices that need...

How much do you want to spend? My thinking is that you are trying to build a system around a component that should not be your top priority. IMO the top priority should be your speakers/room.

The ISP's call the combination unit's "gateways" and they are routers and modem's in one box sharing one SMPS. With both my ISP's you can go either way but you will get better performance with separates with their modem and your own router.

Maybe it is semantics. I believe that the “modem” provided by the ISP is also a routers. Your switch(es) connect directly to the “modem” provided by your ISP. So my question still remains unanswered.

I am assuming you have a router that has all the ports you need and you are adding a switch to the network because some people think that adding an unnecessary piece of gear in the network will improve the sound.

    Hello Mr Mike.
Sorry if I said something wrong ,since I'm new to this hobbies.

Today I auditioned 30.2 with NAT SET monoblock. The voice was so full of body but I still miss some bass and I think it kinda rolled off in high. The equipment separation was good only some albums.

Then I auditioned Diablo120 with their Mojos(different dealers). I'm amazed with the soundstage, image and how clean they produced them(is that mean they bright?), but instantly I miss the Midrange and full body voice feel of Harbeth and NAT.

Will Diablo produce better midrange when pair with Harbeth??

I still waiting to try Luxman next

    Thank You Sir.

Mike, 12mths ago new mk2 (with copper heatsinks + upgrades) was €30000, the one in pics was €16000. I'd happily ask the world distributor if you wish. I have no financial interest at all in this. Met him 12ths ago in Paris, we got chatting. Lovely man, Italian, prefers speaking English to French even though he lives in Paris. Hah!
