Is this a pointless technique? I believe I read somewhere, for start up, it reduces the torsional forces on the belt and or motor, thus extending their life span.
Take about 10" of blue painters tape and roll it back on itself, stick it to a surface near your table, and dab your record brush on it before/after each record cleaning. No dust on the brush means no dust in the grooves. The blue tape has just enough adhesion to remove dust w/o removing brush...
