The intellectually interested type who understands mostly whats being tested ..!
To be fair stereophile does the same , carefully selective measurements to protect the innocent , ASR does the same to make class D look superior so they can have a laugh ..!
JA has been taken to task many times...
Measurements have everything to how something sounds , it cant say you will care for it when you apply your tastes , but for sure you can predict outcome after proper measurements especially on amps..
Unfortunately very rare to have good balance with such high sensitivity , unless a very large system ( cant be a 2 way for eg) where efficiency takes a hit but at 105db shud not be an issue ..
Nah i have heard really good bass from SET’s with fantastic Jump not matched by PP toob amps with maybe a few exceptions ..
An SET done right matched to some really good speakers ( most are not ) is a fantastic sound its not sleepy or warm or wooly at all ..!

Ohh , the class D measurements tweaked to their Biases is what really count guys..!
Challenge them technically and they make TDS twats look sane ..
:)
I actually do go there but only for Amir’s Bench test results for information ….

IMO the strength of a good SET is how it handles the bass , its ability to transition with pace is what makes them great with fantastic jump , if only using for mids/highs a PP tube like a VAC is vastly superior …
A good SET is not lush , dark etc , as a matter of fact really good top amps have alot of similarity in their sound reproduction which is , they become very pre amp related in what you hear once you match amp drive to load !
Had VK600’s , with Bat pak, not a big fan, no drive, they were best on 8 ohm monitors sound and drive was good , Poor on ESL’s and large low Z speakers ..!
