    SS vs Tube - experiences

    HI Team:

    Recently bought to my wife (she really wanted to have) - C70 & 2152 tubue stuff,... Vs. my normal C50/452 SS amps,... I warmed it up to cca 100h,... BUT - MY FRIENDS !!! This is DIFFERENT WORLD - never/ever did my B6W 800D2 played like this !!! From now on - ONLY TUBES !

    What are your experiences ?

    I've been there before - "only tubes from now on! no more SS!". But later on found SS and hybrid gear I really love too. It's all down to system matching, plus your mood and preferences can change too. But of course I still adore tubes; that will never go away! Also note that MC452 with autoformers is far from a "typical" SS amp.

    Long term tube guy here. On high efficient, dynamic horn speakers, tubes and only tubes for me.

    On traditional dynamic loudspeakers, I tend to prefer class A solid state.

    On inefficient speakers (MBL), I like big power AB.

    like most 'old timers' around here we started out with tubes and like the tide of the ocean went back and forth. I agree with Mike's summation, for me now it's a combo platter.......phono-pre-tube, line stage-tube, amp(s)-SS
