NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
The MC75 mono vacuum tube power amplifier delivers modern performance standards in a classic design. It has all the features to meet the needs of today’s music enthusiast. As with all McIntosh mono amplifiers, the MC75 will provide ultimate stereo separation and imaging as the two stereo channels are completely separate. 75 Watts of power is output into a 2, 4 or 8 Ohm speaker with less than 0.5% distortion.
McIntosh’s patented Unity Coupled Circuit design provides low distortion, extended frequency response and long tube life. The MC75’s large, oversize power transformer provides unusually high power and dynamic response from a single pair of KT88 output tubes, once again setting the performance benchmark for tube amplification.
Balanced and unbalanced inputs combined with power control allow matching with all contemporary McIntosh preamps and processors. Sentry Monitor tube protection circuit will ensure the MC75 will have a long and trouble free operating life.

That's a beauty. Maybe they're testing the waters for how these amps sell before they come out with the EL34 based amp(s).

Re: NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
A "nicely" refreshed McIntosh classic. Hardly innovative don't you think?
Please, please, please McIntosh, innovate....What I've seen in recent years especially from a digital product development perspective, is low risk sandboxed IP under license just to remain in the game. Sure it is harder in the digital age. It doesn't mean you have to compromise the quality of your brand's reputation with mediocre digital solutions. Similarly, we don't need a DAC in every new box you make.
For example, if the Polish guys at Lampizator can think outside of the box, surely your company can too...Last edited by Steve; May 20, 2015 at 02:02 AM. Reason: typo

Re: NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
Probably...I'd love to see McIntosh step it up and release a whole new reference lineup ouzing with build quality. Just knock it out of the park because "We are McIntosh and you are not".
For one, get away from the tin chassis of late and get back to extruded aluminium panels, even better CNC aluminium blocks.
I'm certainly curious as to where that MX160 inspiration is coming from now that the stable has changed....

NCouldn't agree with you more Steve. I've had butt loads of McIntosh product through out the years, and it's really a shame for such an iconic product to really have fallen off their pace IMO. I still have couple of Mc gear, but as of late, I've not had any desire to even look at any of their new product, I just like you hope they will think out of the box and introduce new product that would get me interested again..

Re: NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
One thing I think some of you guys are missing is that the MC 75 was way ahead of its time in terms of specifications and performance when it was introduced. It's still ahead of its time compared to some other tube gear on the market that claims its new and innovative. At least McIntosh has updated the amp with higher quality parts, balanced inputs, high quality binding posts and RCA inputs. Now, would it be cool if McIntosh came out with a KT-150 version that offered up at least 125 watts per channel and all the good things that KT-150 tubes bring to the table? I would think so. That would require McIntosh to design and build new power transformers and output transformers.
How many of you guys have ever heard the MC 75 with real, no kidding, no BS NOS Gold Lion KT-88s which they originally came with?Micro Seiki SX-8000 air bearing table, SME 312s arm, SME 3012R arn, Dynavector XV-1s cartridge, Lyra Etna SL cartridge, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 2 track R2R, Ampex 350 tape repros, Roon Nucleus Plus music server, HiFi Rose 150B DAC, ARC Ref 6, ARC Ref 75 with KT-150s, Parasound JC5 amp , JBL 4345 speakers, Viero Equilibro Level 3 speaker cables, and Definitive Technology Ref subs.

Re: NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
Well said Mark! As for the battle of KT88 amps, my 275 mk6's trumped all the other MUCH MUCH (like 4-5 times) more expensive amps I had. The build quality on my 275's was also better than any other KT88 amp I've had.
I know I keep saying this, but the Mc 601's also won my big amp blind shootout last year.
Would I like to see some new statement preamp from Mc, sure. But their amps still sound great and look great too!My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
Mark.......Great comments and insight on the old and new McIntosh MC75. The newest version also incorporates McIntosh Sentry Monitor. This is a long awaited upgrade for McIntosh tube amplifiers. Sentry Monitor immediately shuts the amplifier off if anything peculiar happens with the power tubes including a complete power tube failure. This is important because it protects other parts of the amplifier from destruction caused by damaging voltage levels. This feature alone provides tube amplifier owners with peace of mind that their amps will survive a power tube failure undamaged. In addition, the newest MC75 also provides the Power Control feature for remote powering of the amplifier from a McIntosh preamplifier. No more trying to find the power switch on each amplifier every time you wish to listen or power down. It also delivers an amazing 110 dB signal to noise ratio below rated output. Built from 1961 to 1970, the original MC75's 90 dB signal to noise ratio was good but is now vastly improved with closer tolerance parts and more efficient circuit paths. No more pitting or rusting chassis either now that McIntosh uses polished stainless steel. The new MC75 is a fine tube power amplifier in every respect.

Re: NEW from McIntosh - McIntosh 75 Mk. II Amp
I would loooove to listen to a set of original Genalex a Gold Lion KT88s....
BTW, not knocking the updated MC75. I would own a pair if I had a need for them.
So, in the current line-up who would choose this amp over a pair of MC275s running in mono mode?
