Looks great like 99% of Mc gear.

Be sure to listen first tho. I've read that some of the new models are not the typical Mc sound. Some say better some say worse.

Heading more towards neutral? I think I’ve seen a couple testaments that suggest that.

Joe, what say you?

Hi Sean,

My experience with the MC1.25 amps is that they are much more neutral that the traditional McIntosh amps. I don't know about the others but I have heard the MA252 is wonderful. I could not take the treble on my 1.25s and had to sell them. It was too aggressive and a touch sibilant for my taste. I could not listen to certain music anymore like Alison Krauss. I was heartbroken. They were soooo amazing in every other way - sound stage, 3D, bass, balls, control but the treble for me was a problem.

Moral of the story, demo, demo, demo before purchase.

Oh, wow I was not expecting that. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, Joe. Were they run-in pretty well?

Yes, I’ll definitely have to demo the 252, first, to check out how the house Mac sound has evolved. Surrounding components and cabling must be well thought out, too.

Gotcha. Well, if it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be. Got plans for something else up your sleeve?

How many pairs of used 601’s will we be seeing hit the secondary market?

Taking it slow and easy. Not sure but I'll probably start with a Pass XA25 for fun.

Could be a great time to snag a clean, used pair of 601s. :)

I still catch myself wishing I pulled the trigger on an INT30 a while back (Side bar - I don’t see that on their site currently; I hope they didn’t discontinue it).

Pass Class A will make your Strads sing....so will a pair of 2301’s...[emoji16]
