McIntosh: XR50 and XR100 Speakers, Would you buy them Yes or No?
I'm a huge McIntosh fan. I found a pair of both the XR50 and XR100 speakers in mint condition for my second or third system and my McIntosh OCD is compelling me to buy them on looks alone.
If you have considered, purchased, at one time had a pair or declined to own a pair. Would you enlighten me with your experience. Of course, the web is riddled with the usual official audio magazine reviews and that says all McIntosh and every other high-end brand is brilliant, perfect and flawless.
I suspect I might here more truth from the folks here on AudioShark.

I auditioned them and did not choose them but loved them. The 50 sounds so much bigger than it looks.

David.......I know there are plenty of McIntosh speaker fans out there but I have never been able to get too excited about McIntosh speakers. There are so many wonderful speakers available from manufacturers who only specialize in speaker design and development. Although I am a huge fan of McIntosh's premium level statement preamps and power amplifiers which I consider their forte, I would not purchase their speakers. Don't let my opinion influence you. I am simply biased toward other speaker manufacturers and find myself far more interested in their attractive offerings.

Have the XR200's and I have auditioned XR50, XR100 and XRT2K side by side at my place, and the XR200's are the best sounding speakers of the bunch.

You should ask your dealer to bring the CH stuff he wants to sell you for home audition in your system. IMO there is no way to tell what will sound better in your system.
