My brother bought the MA252 for his living room system.

He absolutely loves it. Says it’s the perfect balance between sweetness and balls. He always wanted a McIntosh piece and this is his first.

He was the one who first got me excited about audio. It’s cool that I give him advice now. :)

What is your brother driving with the MA252?

He has JBL 590, Maggie MMG, Acoustic Research AR-3a, and a nice old pair of Advents.

Congrats to him! I picked one up about a month ago and love mine too. It's my first McIntosh. I'm playing TIDAL hi-res music through it via a LUMIN D2 and SACDs using my Oppo 205. Very happy with the sound!

Excellent! Cool looking system. Thank you for posting.

Good for him! That's a good start to move him forward with a McIntosh addiction. Are you going to intervene or facilitate that addiction Joe?

OMG! He is older than me and has been getting all my hand me ups. I am his worst nightmare. :) He's spent soooooo much money he's starting to regret that he's related to me.

Glad to hear the positive reports on the MA252. Mine is also treating me well. Fits my needs nicely - small size with a musical and enjoyable sound.

Joe - do you or your brother still have a pair of the KEF LS50’s? Curious how that combo sounds.

I gave my LS50 to a friend, don't know how they'd sound on the MA252, probably pretty great though.

One think that bothers me is the trend for tiny bass drivers. You can't overcome physics. Big woofers rock. Maybe that's why I love JBL. 12" and bigger. Love that.

Joe

I had a fully broken in pair here for a couple of weeks for a listen. I tried them with tubes and SS plus a hybrid integrated and I just didn't get it at all. Same thing with the Andrew Jones Pioneer "Miracle speakers" either. Plenty of other bookshelf speakers I prefer to the KEF's.

The LS50 and Job amps was actually really great but bass was surely lacking.

Yeah, lack of bass was my worry. Thanks for verifying.

For what they are, LS50 are wonderful but small woofers just can't give you enough impact.

And since there are hundreds of models in that general price range there will be something for everyone's taste.
