Thinking of .7 or 1.7i

Thanks Mike and Jack. Listening to Venessa Fernandez in DSD512 upsampled to 24.6 MHz... holy crap... the Magnepan's are very much impressing the heck out of me. So open sounding... not as tight of sweet spot as you indicated earlier. Simply a wall of music... very nice. For me the T+A is not struggling at all. Sounding pretty amazing!

And wait till they break in., and also try a little toe in.

Randy, I noticed that you have toe-in, but you can also experiment tilting them upwards just a little bit.

The stands that came with them do tilt them up a touch. There is only one position on these. The photo is from lower level; standing it shows the tilt more and also shows the speakers are actually much larger than this picture indicates. The stands that are coming will raise them up a little and should work well on solidifying them against vibrations.

I did move them around a little last evening and so far I am liking this position. Not extremely easy to move because the Kimber Kables are bi-wires, so I have to hook both to the banana connector. They are also not the easiest thing to move around :).

That is very nice setup Randy! Maggies are easy to listen to and I can listen to them for several hours.
I tried several integrated and amps with them. I swapped the gears but the Maggies are keeper.

Enjoy!

I have my .7s on the acrylic bases which elevates them off the floor a few inches and keeps them vertical with no tilt. An added bonus is that I think they look better on these stands than they do on the standard feet.

Congrats Randy!

Give them about 75 hours of break in to sound their best. Also, play around with positioning and toe in. Even a 1" change can make a huge difference.

Enjoy!

I did notice slight movements in locations do indeed make differences, more so than the KEF's, by a long shot.

So I am listening to MoFi's One-Step of Yes's Fragile. Holy cow... I just realized I am no longer listening to speakers playing back the album but instead I am inside the music listening to the musicians playing. I do not think I have ever experienced that before. Simply wow.

Quite remarkable; listening to Simply Eva and I swear Eva Cassidy is sitting there playing her guitar and singing to me. So this is what no boxes sounds like :)?

By Jove, I think he’s got it.

Great speakers like that are pretty amazing. Enjoy the new freedom.

What amazes me is I thought to get to this type of experience was way above my budget reach. Magnepan are certainly one of the best values in quality audio, no doubt.

I also realize they are not for everyone. If I was looking to knock the walls down, playing AC/DC at concert levels, I am sure they would not work. But for what I am looking for in my audio system they seem like they are going to be amazing!

They are wonderful for our girly music. :)

Hehe... I can't remember the last time I got into some real rock on my home system. I did listen to ZZ Top through my headphones recently. Seems like headphones are the only place I like to crank it a bit any more :).
