    How goes the break-in Kev?

As any sane person knows, you don't put Maggies in a small room...and especially a pair of 20.7s. In my case, my last date with sanity was I believe June 1983, thus I'm not bound by logic or reason.
So here I am... the good news is, for better or worse, I've never, ever enjoyed any system more than the one I have now. I've concluded sanity is over-rated.

PS the "feet" are a concoction of my own...to experiment with "spiking". I'd had threaded spikes into the floor (concrete slab) ..in the end, to my ears they made little if any difference and made positing the speakers a royal PITA...Some day I'll probably put the ovals back on. Maybe when I re-gain my sanity.

Kev has tweeters out, Ray has the tweeters in....hmmm....

I've owned 5 sets of Maggies and always liked them out. Curious Ray - what have you found?

I did early on with a pair of 3.6s have tweeters out... I felt that in my tiny space, with tweeters out, I lost a bit of center focus.
I did ultimately mess around with room treatment, presumably which would have minimized "early" reflections from tweeters out. However, when I first experimented with tweeters in, I just felt that I got a razor sharp center image and less so with tweeters out. I preferred this even if it meant sacrificing a bit of image width.
And I felt that in my case image depth was a bit better... tweeters in.

Having said all that, I am fairly regularly tempted to swap back to tweeters out just to have a listen. one of these days.

Interesting. That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Hey Ray, the break-in is the most smoothest I have ever had the fortune to endure. Every now & then I hear something to me that sounds a touch flat or so, then realise what it is & why, 5 mins later I just forget about it & just get on with enjoying the music. Love the way this system is just so easy to listen to & the bass out of these things with the Magtech monos is absolutely jaw dropping. Used an i-phone app last night to see what an approx. would be, somewhere around 25hz....... HA!!! Great looking system you have there too.

Ho, Yes great Speakers--I owned Maggies in the 70's MG1's/II's etc--they do like space to breathe--don't tell me they still have Fuses in the line?

I believe there are better alternatives now than the degrading simple Fuse--no?

yup, still fuses in the mid/tweeter (none in woofer) many folks still short-them-out. others replace with "boutique" fuses. (like me)
I've experimented a bit but in the end decided to keep the protection in place and use the fancy fuses, even though I'm hard pressed to identify any substantial improvement between shorting altogether, cheapo standard fuses and the expensive boutique fuses, but that's just me talking.

Here is a pick of my 1.7s, love them even though they are not my main speaker, love the detail they put up and huge realistic soundstage!
