Maggies 1.7i Subwoofers
Hi I have just registered
I am new here but I believe I have found the perfect sub woofer for my 1.7i
I was watching Nelson Pass videos on you tube and saw one about the El Pipe O
More than any else this started as bet whit a friend and turned out to be pretty good
I have Heard and tried quite a few subwoofers but integration whit the Maggies has always been a problem ,as said I am new here and if you know better please point me in the right direction.
Apart from the driver the enclosure turned out to be quite cheap to make
I have spent about £200 for it as an experimental first build
All that is really needed Is a fair bit of glue, old news papers, time and elbow grease
Whit a couple of Watts output to the sub and the 15in driver I am using in a 16X15 foot room
the difference is Night to Day

Re: Maggies 1.7i Subwoofers
Cool looking project. The subs sound like they work well with your Maggie's. I have a pair of Rythmik subs with my Magnepan's. They seem to be a great match!

Re: Maggies 1.7i Subwoofers
hi thank you both
It is still work in progress
I will have to look at the cross over
at present is just a passive just 4 resistors and 4 10 uF capacitors (70Hz 24dB low pass) going to the input of an old Denon amplifier that has spent the last 15 years in the loft
I had a couple of friends around and what has been commented on is the integration whit the Maggies
I think that is all to do whit the size of the tube as it is 2.4 meters long whit by chance happens to be the space between the main speakers

Re: Maggies 1.7i Subwoofers
Hi joeinid
I see that you also like Nelson Pass designs
I really wish I could ear the Sit and the F7
I built my first pair of F5 12 years ago and it is what I am using whit the XP10
By taking the output of the speaker output of the F5 and feeding the Dennon throug the passive cross over I keep very much the Pass sound all the way this till I finish my new F5 that is ...
